First off, very pleased with the entire order process with ACD out of Illinois. I ordered this last weekend, received an email on Monday it was being processed followed by a "shipped" email with tracking and it was on my doorstep today.

Extremely well packed! All parts and instructions included.

The Install:

First off, remove the plastic skidplate or whatever it is near the oil filter. You must also remove the bracket that holds this skidplate so the screw doesn't rub on the ACD. It's simply two bolts, remove bracket, reinstall bolts. (pictured)

I won't bore you with the details unless someone needs help but I will say it can be done by yourself, but if you have extra hands, even better.

The bike must be on the side stand unless you have some type of lift system...I didn't. There is a lot of pressure from the center stand springs and I did not need to remove them. It takes some work to line up things, but it can be done with a little effort.

The entire install took about 1 hour. A lot of that time was me saying wtf?...like with the left side of the center stand bolt and just a fraction of a hair to get it out. I did read where one forum member removed part of the exhaust in order to remove the bolt, but for me, it come out with a little work.

Over all, I'm very pleased with the Skid Plate and the fit was right on the money without any rubbing or touching of parts. If there was an issue with the earlier versions, it's been fixed.

Highly recommended.

I made up some 65 mm all-thread studs with four nuts to ease installation and future oil changes if anyone is interested. I have 6 sets ready to go. 20.00 shipped CONUS. These work with the Altrider crash bars installed under the ACD skid-plate.

My install was not as easy as the one above. Had to loosen the exhaust by the center stand to get the bolt out, and bend the forward hanger forward a bit to get the center stand mounting to allign, this could have been bent back in shipping.

Bob, surely this question will be asked.

Is there a coating on the studs and nuts?

I put some copper antigall on mine where they go into the block, just didn't want a rust issue in the future, I can add it to the studs, but it would be a mess in packaging...grin.

red locktite does wonders, and double up two nuts to thread it in the first time, let it set, then undo said nuts.

No problems with lean over I bolted mine up with the spacers for the Altrider crash bars and I noticed that the tire will rub on the skidplate offroading,I've posted pics on another thread for modifying the cover for the oil filter I didn't want the hassle of removing the skidplate to change the oil, that and the drain holes didn't line up with the drain bolts maybe they have fixed that since last year when I bought mine. It's a great piece of protection.

I installed mine last week as well. Center stand bolts were a PITA. Mine also rubbed on the radiator hose on the right as well as touched the cat. I bent the right side out a bit to eliminate the contact with the hose. Seems fine now and riding last night I kicked up a tree branch that made a nice ring as it bounced off the bottom. I was glad it was there when I heard that.

I went with the raw plate on my 14 gray. Looks fine and shows dirt less. I thought the black would probably need touched up all the time from rock chips and scratches.

Went raw because I'll powdercoat it semi gloss black myself and it'll match the rest of everything else I've done as well.

Curious if you've been able to do oil changes without fully removing the slid plate? I got a set of your studs for the front- wondering if I will be able to loosen the rear mount points and hinge the plate down???

The front drain would be a problem clearing the plate and you couldn't remove the filter this way.
With the studs, removing the plate is pretty easy.
