Accidental oil overfill

Hi, like an idiot I accidentally (I think) overfilled by not RTFM.
I saw the drain plug to the rear but didn't see the one at the front that I would've seen if I'd read the sticky.
So I put in about 3.3 litres plus a new filter. Luckily, I haven't done any high speed riding, with tacho not going over 2500 rpm due to local traffic riding, about 30 miles.
The first I knew about it was the sticky, then when looking in the sightglass I noticed the nice new red oil was very dark, clearly having mixed with whatever was in the front part of the sump. No oil splashed on the outside of engine, haven't checked around air filter either.
So, how likely is it I did some damage, and does anyone know what capacity the front plug chamber holds?
I remember when draining from the rear plug it didn't look like 3.4 litres had come out of the bike, but in fairness, I didn't measure it.

I really don't know but I would guess you have not caused any issues. You may check in the air box for excessive oil but the Super T will put oil in the air box some anyway. I know some on here will put 4 quarts of oil in at changes and have had no issues. I really don't think you will have any issues either. I run mine a little over filled too and never had any issues at all.

Grab some peace of mind change the oil and filter. Do it right this time. Then don’t worry. You are probably fine, and worry won’t help. Lesson learned. The design of our oil system lends itself to overfilling with little to no trouble. Air box oil is the main symptom of an over fill.

Now it's done properly. I think part of the reason I didn't RTFM is because I had an XT660X before this S10, and it had one drain plug.
Never again.

Lesson learned, no harm done. Look at it from the bright side, your 2 DIY oil changes were probably cheaper than having a dealer do it once. Just make sure you don't strip out the threads in the oil pan.

I take it that the front one drains everything?
Nope, just a little. I haven't paid close attention, but I think it's about a half to three quarters of a quart in the front. But that's when it's not overfull. It would have been real close to the excess amount. I think. The back tank is the main tank.

You were 1.54 quarts over. Many of us run a straight 4 quarts. 1 the Rotella t6 jug comes that way. The extra oil seems to fix the alarming oil light when you run the recommended amount. And you have convenient Sealable container for the old oil. Best way to tell if you are using oil. Also the best way to transport for disposal.
