My winglets are from 2012. Back then they used crush rubber nuts with metal screws. Even Yamaha went cheap on the winglets hardware as the Tenere came more popular.

Hmm, my '12 used the rubber well nuts but had the plastic screws.

the original winglet bolts are plastic... i would not trust them to hold it all together. a few good bumps and they might just snap.

You're missing that you WANT them to snap. It's the reason they were selected for the installation.

In most accidents, the rider goes forward. Because the plastic bolts shear or the rubber well-nuts come out of the holes, the windshield and upright stays are less likely to impale you.

A friend with a CNC cut a pair out of .125 ABS just to test out. They work pretty good, and might be safer if you go over the handle bars.

Hi,
This is the best $25 I spent on the bike. I didn't think it would make a lot of difference, but it did. For 2.5 years I learned to live with a Vibrating Zumo on the accessory bars. On Sunday we went for a nice Fall ride on mixed surface roads include some unpaved all two up and the GPS is solid, no more vibrations.

A note, I didn't even use the supplied hardware. I mounted Accessory bar using the nylon bolts from the Wind deflectors. It is probably not as strong as the SS you supplied, but maybe I don't need it to be that strong. In case something goes wrong, I will rip the bolts and not the fairing.

Thank you

Glad you like them. I just dropped off the next batch at the powdercoater.

I got the braces yesterday and were installed today with winglets in my 2017 S10.
I am impressed with the quality of the whole product. Thank you Propsoto. ::012:: ::012::
Easy to install and fitted perfect. The braces eliminated the vibrations a lot.
I suggest to put a drop of blue thread locker in each windscreen nuts to avoid getting loose and eventually lose them (happened to a friend).

Can I still get some of these brackets? They look a lot better than what I made

A clarification:
Regarding the thread locker, my suggestion is related to the knob that fix the system that permits the height of the windscreen.

There are plenty of brackets available. And to make sure I don't run out, I just ordered another 50 pair.

Paypal is the easiest. $25 in the lower 48, $35 International, prices include shipping.

Just got my brackets and installed them. Not just impressed by the fit and finish, but also by the quality and comprehensiveness of the supplied hardware (multiple size bolts, washers, grommets and locknuts). Top quality! Thank you
