IF YOU’RE CONSIDERING THESE BRACES, GET THEM BEFORE THEY’RE GONE. I’ve recently started a new job that has me on the road a lot. When my stock is gone, I’m not making any more.

Finally completed some accessory bar stiffeners tonight. First ride was good. Much better, at least with just the radar detector mounted.

If anyone is interested, I can post the drawing.

Forgot to mention, if you like being able to raise and lower the windscreen, this doesn't interfere.

Here is the .pdf. I printed it at 100%, taped it to 1/8" 6061 aluminum, cut out with a jig saw (laser table would have been nice) and filed in a vice to clean up edges. True Value had some rubber grommets for the mounting holes. I used SS 1/4-20UNC x 3/4 LG Button Heads to mount. Everything lined up really well. My mounting holes were drilled 3/8, 5/16 would have been ok.

I'm unable to upload the Solidworks or AutoCAD files here. If you send me a PM, I'll pass them along.

Now does anyone have a way to keep the ciggy plugs from vibrating out?

Thanks so much! I always hated how much the windscreen and accessory bar wiggled and vibrated in the wind at highway speed. It is especially bad if you have a taller windscreen, the braces you came up with here should solve that problem.

Well done sir! ::003::

Here are the dimensions, if you don't trust printing the .pdf. The attachment is just the sketch from Solidworks. If there are other Solidworks designers out there, yeah I know it could be cleaner. It was tricky to measure and fit up, changed many times, had to cut out many paper templates.

Any chance you want to make some money by selling these. I've been looking for support bars, my garmin gpsmap478 is a bit heavy when mounted on the accessory bar which vibrates too much for my liking.

I don't have access to a laser table, or I'd be happy to. I've been waiting for two years for one of the skid plate/crash bar companies to do it. Maybe now they will. The dimensional drawing is posted. You could bring it to any shop with a laser, or cut it out by hand like me.

It would really be best if Yamaha would do it right.

I took the drawing to a local machine shop but a small order is too expensive. So I am going to cobble up a pair of these for myself. I was looking on the Mc Master Carr site for the stock, did you use anodized, or unfinished, or brushed? I think a 4" x 24" size would be sufficient, but I was unsure about what finish you used. TIA

This is a great idea, by the way, thanks for posting this up.

You only need 12" ea, but I bought extra just in case.

I'm having our mfrg guy quote it now. A lot of them would help.

I see that part number is for unpolished stock, that is the answer I needed, thanks.

I will hold off until I see what your mfrg guy comes up with.

Just ordered 50 brackets. If you guys are ok painting them yourselves, $20/pair shipped will cover them. Should have them in a week or so.
I assume that's the completed product rather than just a piece of flat bar? If so, put me down for a set (US address)
