Worth mentioning again, is that with the dry sump system on the S10, when the oil light comes on, (low oil LEVEL, not pressure), that's just the reservoir level, not the engine. The engine always has the same quart or so of oil that is circulating thru it from the reservoir until you actually get so low that there isn't enough oil to pump.

Looking good. I see you're a light packer. ;) Camping or hotels?

You're joking, right Eric? I'm upgrading my suspension, and feel self-conscious when I tell the tuners that I need my suspension to handle 150 lb of luggage!

I do 100% free camping or free couch when available. Finding camp spots is half the ADV experience for me. I save money so I can work less and travel more!

Yes, I'm joking that you're a light packer, thus the wink emoticon.

When I was touring and doing rally riding, I had 5 gallons of extra fuel in a fuel cell, a gallon of water, plus 40 lbs of gear, not to mention the weight of the hard bags, fuel cell, etc. Not as bad as two up, but I was running a 1200 lb spring on my shock. (Non-ES model). I went with the Touratech shock and Ohlins fork guts.

When we were camping, my wife wanted to stand up in the tent. I ended up packing a duffle with 2 aluminum cots, 2 camp chairs, an 8 man tent, 2 sleeping bags, stove, etc. Probably well over 50 lbs just for that duffle. The bike took it well, but it was a pain to drag it all over and do the set up/tear down every day. Here is a pic of us traveling. I'm running an expanded main tank here instead of the fuel cell. Wife still packed a ton of crap even though I had all the camping gear. I still don't know what all she had stuff in there...

I found out long ago that spare tires hang over the Rumbux upper crash bars very well! You also get asked at every stop "Where are YOU going!?" :D

I like having a lot of stuff so I can travel comfortably, except when I drop the bike...

Is it just me or did your wife's GS need a stiffer spring too with all that gear? Very cool that your wife rides!

She had a GSA with the Electronic Suspension and it was able to handle the extra weight with just some setting changes. Yes, I'm very lucky to be able to ride with my wife on her own bike.
