Bought a corbin. Love it.

Instructions say to remove the seat latch from the oem seat pan and move it over to the corbin.

So i put a socket on the nut and start turning gently...and the bolt breaks loose. Its now free spinning, with no way to access the other side of the seat pan.

So i did what anyone would do: I carefully pulled every staple and removed the cover and foam, revealing the nonsense that yamaha got away with:

Once revealed, it was easy to secure this side with a set of pliers and remove the retaining bolt:

And the corbin is happy!

Tomorrow i will reinstall the retaining post with a heaping portion of jb weld such that it shall never move again. New nylock nut to replace the factory lock nut too.

Then its off to the upholstery shop to have the cover put back on. Should take them all of 15 min.

Looking good. Hope you like it. I got a Corbin seat 15 years ago for a ZRX1200. It's got a good shape and riding position but it's too hard for me.

I wonder what actually caused that ? I have removed and reinstalled that bracket a bunch of times without any trouble. It’s currently installed on my Corbin seat, I mostly like the Corbin but it is way more slippery than I prefer and when riding rough roads it doesn’t take long to start feeling like there is absolutely no padding. Eventually I hope to get a Russel Day Long Seat built, tried one for about 500 miles and it was great.

Its possible that the nut was cross threaded, though i saw no damage to the threads after removal. The nut just had a lot of resistance, almost as of corroded, but it was clean.

I am the first owner too, so it wasnt a case of previous owner messed up.
