Yeah, I kept looking at all those cobblestone streets, and thinking about how slippery they must be when they're wet.
On the Grand Ballon pass in the Vosge and one of the passes I once did in Slovenia, a fair number of the hairpin bends (switchbacks?) were cobbled. Not much fun even in the dry.

When my German ex moved to the US, we went to the Smithsonian museum for US history and when we came out she asked where the real historical items were. It took her a bit to get the context of a country that has less than 500 years of history.

Scooters and small bikes make a lot of sense on tight cobble streets.
US and North America in general has a lot to offer and I love to visit, but historically it's an infant compared to Europe.
I've visited a pub that was established before Marco Polo crossed The Atlantic and several times I've stay in buildings that are older than the pyramids in Mexico...

There is cobblestones everywhere. They are slippery when wet, but you get used to it.

When I lived in the Ratingen suburb of DUS a restaurant within walking distance was part of the ring wall and dated back to 1100-1200 AD. Part of the fun of riding in the EU is tripping across old places.

They are saying that it is quite possible that Polo was the first to North America. . . . but, if true, it was via the Pacific.

Loved the report, and good pictures. Better than I would have thought possible for a phone. The Clint Eastwood picture in your Carballo hotel seems pretty random. Is there a story to go along with it?

It's good to hear that you liked the report.

No story that I know of..?
Besides the picture of Clint the room also had pictures of Steve McQueen and Audrey Hepburn..?
