This sure isn't The Alps in Switzerland.

But it's the best I found today.

Had it not been for Covid, this morning we would have left our Austrian based hotel and ridden The Alps in Switzerland all day.

Instead I took the Austrian bike out for some American twists and turns, Pennsylvania style. I know it's not the same, but screw you virus, I still had a good time.

The Eifel Region certainly is a beautiful part of Germany, with some cracking roads and proper olde world villages and town. Well worth a visit. Oh, and the Nurburgring is in this region and well worth a visit and a lap, or two. The B500 is in the Black Forest, which is is a lot further south in Germany, with some truly epic roads and stunning scenery.
You miss understood what I meant to say...

Yeah, but if the trip had gone as planned, you wouldn't be on that fine new ride, so you got that going for ya.

A good time is a good time. Enjoy!
Thanks, and you are absolutely right. The money intended for the trip went to the new bike. Another plus is I'm not stuck riding the F850GS. A bike I reserved before ever test riding one. Of the 5 bikes I test rode in the last few weeks that was the only one I returned in about 5 minutes. I'm sure I would have gotten by on it, but glad I didn't have to.

Yup. I would probably be just leaving Alaska about now and looking forward to Europe in the Fall. Instead I'm about to head to the kid's house to sit for my Grand Daughter again since there is so little day care.

Hello Rob, I’m off to the Black Forest in a couple of weeks, I have been before but not really explored it. I know the B500 is the obvious, but I know there’s plenty more to see and do. IIRC, the BF is a favourite of yours, any must do/see tips?

Feldberg is the highest point in the Black forrest with quite a nice cable car ride to the top with a few cafes for the all important cafe und kuchen, I always leave the beer until the evening when I’ve finished riding for the day.
Freiburg is a nice city to visit and while you are in that area the ride up to Shauinsland is good or again you could take the cable car if you preferred. If you did take the cable car,I guarantee once you’ve been up there you would want to ride to the top
There are some nice campsites in Titisee if you are camping, a favourite of mine is the Bühlhof- you don’t need to book, just rock up and pitch, there’s always room and it’s quite a good base.
The Hasenhorn Rodelbahn - summer toboggan run at Todtnau is great fun and there are few roads that link all of these places together which ate great to ride.
If you like walking there’s a good circular walk around Schluchsee with a couple of cafes dotted around, again a fave of mine is the Unterkrummenhof which is at the opposite end to the dam. You could also walk part way around and pick up the rundfahrt boat to complete it.
The river Danube starts in the black forrest, and just over the border in Schaffhausen are the Rheinfalls- where lake Konstanz dumps it’s water to start the river Rhein.
Just a few of my favourite places in Schwarzwald, have a great trip.
Give me a shout if you want to meet up for a chinwag and a brew, I don’t think you are too far away from me

Thanks Saint, just had a look through those places, some good stuff there, some close to each other making good days out.
Appreciated.

Forgot to mention Germany’s highest waterfall at Triberg, if you are riding the B500 you have to go through Triberg anyway
Also this place is pretty cool, again on the B500

Anyone using the B500, watch out for the speed limits - they get policed firmly at times, particularly on the weekend.

And the speed cameras, they love a good 30KPH camera in the villages/towns, S10’s do a fair bit of clattering with those
