Mooched around the Elan Vally and also did a track near Rhayader that was probably a little too difficult for my current skill level and the weight of the XT660Z so had a couple of low speed 'off's ' :p but no damage and the bike wasn't too difficult to pick up ... really wet my appetite for a lighter green laner though ... its a dilema because its always 100 odd miles either way to get to the parts of Wales I love and I don't know what it would be like doing longer miles on a 350cc Honda or something similar? Maybe get a trailer?

Anyway ... it was a good day ... love the 660 20211016_122510.jpg20211016_122510.jpg20211016_122516.jpg20211016_122510.jpg20211016_122516.jpg20211016_122530.jpg20211016_133430.jpg

How about sign-up for Geraint Thomas’ off road school or similar to hone your off-road skills? There are a few off-road schools in Wales within easy reach of Worcester. Mind you, I raced enduros in the 70’s and early 80’s and light weight is a bonus in unless you are content with green landing?

Yep ... I was due to have a day with Rob Dixon in Shropshire next week but had to cancell due to work ... I will do some lessons though, I did fairly decent standard mountain biking for around 20 odd years and like the trails, I think the obvious weight of the XT hinders anything too knarly buts its fine for most fire roads / flatish gravel tracks and I love it for that. I am 62 now and should maybe think about that a bit more :D ... not sure I want to purchase a lighter bike and have it sat there just for the odd day out? If there was more legal trails near Worcester then I would swap but there is practically nothing ... keep trying to convince my missus to move to Wales then the jobs a good un all round;)

DNA Side Airbox Filter, Main Filter, MTC End Can No Cat. That engine needs all the help you can give it and it responds really well too those mods.

To be honest the gains are all low down and mid and make it much more rideable. And it sounded great !

That 660 is so much lighter than all our 1200's, you wouldn't complain about weight after lifting one of ours a few times.
