You should enjoy many more miles. You're on track to get your first valve check done around Feb next year and your second valve check done around June or July next year. Might want to replace the CCT at the second valve check as a preventative measure.

Hi EricV, I understood that the CCT was only an issue on Gen 1 SuperTens? I thought that Yamaha had addressed this on Gen 2 bikes?

The Gen II bikes do have an upgraded design. And my '15 would benefit from the newer version that came out in '17. However, the CCT is still a normal wear item. It's not listed on any schedule though. My FJR went thru 5 CCTs and was on the 6th one at 162k miles. Most of them were in the first 100k.

The S10 has a very long cam chain due to the parallel twin design. I suffered a CCT failure on my Gen I bike at 83k. I could wait until the cam chain gets noisy and replace the CCT then. IMHO, that's going to happen, it's just a matter of when. Or, I can have the CCT replaced every other valve check/adjust since they will be in the same area at that time. I feel that's a cost effective time to do it. The valve check/re-shim is the only thing I pay a dealer to do. The rest I do myself. I can do it, I just don't want to.
