So far they are performing well, taking everything the Italian back roads and old A roads have to offer. The previous PR5s where starting to square off by now. I don't do off roading, but the weather and subsidence damaged surfaces are a close second. I'm now back in the north of Italy on a lot of flat tarmac and they run as true as they did at the start. Hundreds of tight bends have almost eliminated the last of the chicken strips, and tread depth is still very good across both front and back tyres.

In the future, unless something amazing comes on the market, I can see myself staying with the Adventures.

These tyres were tested alongside other, road biased, Adventure bike tyres in this month’s RIDE magazine. I felt that they shouldn’t have compared them with 90/10 road tyres but they scored well all the same.

They only tested 6 tyres, Metzler Tourance Next, Michelin Adventures, Dunlop Trailsmart Max, Bridgestone A41, Continental Conti Trail Attack 3 and the Pirelli Scorpion Trail 2 latest offering. All were 90/10 road biased except for the Michelin tyres.

Thanks Grumpy.
Will be interested to see how many miles you get out of them.

I’ve got a little over 8K miles on a set of Adventures and the rear looks to have at least another thousand in it and the front probably twice that or more.

Could you share pics of how much tread depth you have remaining? And also what kind of riding you've been doing primarily pavement, one up/two up, etc.

I'm at 7,800 miles on my Tourance EXP's and probably have another 1,500 - 2,000 miles in them before I hit the wear bars. Looking at the Adventures as a possibility, even through my riding is very much 90/10.

As with every single tire thread, it’s all about the miles. My question is how do they perform? I’m finding it very difficult to find anything about the handling characteristics on these or any other tire mounted on the Super Tenere. Kind of sad actually.

What were the end results?
Ah! Sorry, I should have posted the result or should I say the opinions of the testers. In my original post I listed the results from last to first but never made it clear, so here are the results:

1st. Pirelli Scorpion Trail 2
2nd. Continental Conti Trail Attack 3
3rd. Bridgestone A41
4th. Dunlop Trailsmart Max
5th. Michelin Adventure
6th. Metzler Tourance Next

Now the impressions were allegedly conducted “blind” by two testers over a short test routes with the tyres fitted to a Suzuki Vstrom 1000 as it does not have any electronics that could skew the results. There is no indication or wear, just impressions by the two testers, one was supposed to be riding “normally” and the other rider is a road racer and was supposed to be riding in a “sporty” fashion. Many of the comments appear to contradict each other.

FWIW, I have recently fitted a pair of Michelin PR5 Road Trail tyres to my SuperTen and now have around 2000 miles on them. Performance wise, they are very good indeed wet or dry, loaded or solo. My only negative, if you can call it that is the trade off with quicker steering compared to the stock Bridgestone A41s that I took off. The A41s feeling more planted and slower steering, the Michelin’s have a sportier feel and the bike responds quicker to rider inputs.

I guess I missremembered the mileage, these tires are actually at about 7,800 miles. Riding has probably been about 70% highway, 25% twisties and 5% gravel/dirt:
