I say he did like it. Dependable but boring is a bit of a backhanded compliment but it is still a compliment. It's still all the bike I'll ever need, regardless of what anyone else thinks about it.

FortNine is my favorite motovlogger, hands down. I don't know why you'd have any doubts that he liked it; it certainly sounded to me that he did. He may not have been bowled over by it, but that's a far cry from not liking it. In fact, I love the bike, and if I were to review it, my review would sound a lot like his. The only difference would be that I've never been someone who placed a big value on an undefinable quality like "personality". I'm not even sure what that's supposed to mean. Is it like when lovers of old BSAs talk about "character", which means the bike breaks down a lot? When it comes to the objective qualities of the bike, I'd say he was pretty unbiased and accurate.

The guys who ran the last two Yamaha shops I was in didn't know how to pronounce Tenere. I bumped into a guy in Maine who was riding one, and didn't pronounce it correctly. I didn't know how to pronounce it when I first bought one; I'd only read about it, but had never actually heard someone say it, when I got mine. I'm fairly certain the sum total of the credibility of his opinion didn't hinge on that, any more than mine does or that guy in Maine's does.

You can hear him pronounce it correctly at a couple points in the video, which leads me to believe that after he'd filmed a bunch of the scenes, someone told him he'd been pronouncing it incorrectly so he got it right for those scenes.

too bad he doesn't know how to pronounce Ténéré... distracts from any credibility.....
He changed his pronunciation part way through. That was a "like" review. Back in the early days we were passing around a pronunciation website, maybe through Google, where we could have a North African or Frenchman pronounce Ténéré for us. Beatiful word that we still manage to butcher. :))

Production of the videos on his YouTube channel are very well done. I disagree with some of his points as they are subjective. I find the engine to have plenty of character, as well as the rest of the bike. I also like the stock exhaust note.

I haven’t had the luxury to spend much time on other big adv bikes, but I have had other bikes and have put some miles on a friend’s R1200GS. As far as the riding experience goes I don’t think the S10 lacks anything in comparison - at least for the way I ride and my abilities.

Most of us have gotten here after having serveral types of bikes prior. Maybe for him, the Super T ain't his cup of tea. That is why we have choices. To his ship reference, I'll still take my "Super Tanker" - thank you very much.

We have to remember, we ride the S10 because we can and made that choice. He rides a V Strom 1000, and a BMW 800GS, and I've ridden both, did not like the GS, small and vibey it made my balls numb! So, take a review for what it is, a personal review, not an attack on people that buy and ride them.

LOL, this is the second thread started about this review. I watched the video, and basically I agree with a lot of what he has said about the bike. In fact, about the only thing I don't agree with are his entirely subjective opinions about "personality". That's one of those ill defined qualities, like "character", that mean different things to different people. He shows and comments on how capable the bike is when ridden off road; in fact, he seems pretty impressed by that. He talks about how well it corners (once he got used to the way it rides). He's impressed by the traction it provides on bad bumpy roads, and how solid the bike feels on the highway and how it's not disturbed by turbulence from passing vehicles. He jokes about how heavy it is to pick it up (it is), and about how the locks on the panniers are a little hard on the key (they are). I can't say I disagree about much of what he said about the bike, only that we have different levels of love for it. Is it the problem that he isn't using big effusive phrases like "Amazing!" and "Best big ADV bike ever!" and "Beats a GS hands down!"?

He likes a lot about the bike; he just doesn't like it as much as maybe I do, or someone else on this forum does. It's like talking to someone who's a huge Walking Dead fan; they seem genuinely upset that you don't love the show as much as they do, and anything you say about the show that's less than "this show should be on 24 hours a day" is considered unjustified criticism.

Well put sir. My sentiments exactly.

Did you notice how he was trying to pick the bike up?
Wrong technique, he should have known that.
I got the impression that he liked it but wanted to be critical, theatrical.

Ive seen a few reviews, since I’m shopping for an ST, and I haven’t seen comments on interstate cruising speeds?
What is the sweet spot for high speeds and what speed does it feel, shall I say, wound up a bit too tight?

Thx

As far as cruising speeds go, the bike is very relaxed at any legal speed I’ve travelled at; 70 to 85 mph is very comfortable.

Back road and state route speed sweet spot for mpg and handling for me is around 60mph. 75 is nothing for this on the interstate - especially when wind protection is set up well.

Ryan does, on occasion, reach too far for the sake of drama in some of his videos but for the most part...he's spot on and I enjoy the content. Hard to fall in love with this bike in 24hrs, hell some never gel with it. Stock, I would describe the experience as underwhelming but comfortable and I would think that Ryan has a good idea of what the Tenere was made to do and what owners can do to unleash a little "character". As for being slow to turn, I have zero issues with the road manners and find Yamaha struck a fine balance between stability and agility. Use the leverage those wide bars provide to initiate the turn then just lean in and gas it!

80mph (indicated) is where I like to sit for highway use and I ride on Shinko 804/805's. This bike handles wind exceptionally well. Probably because of the rounded, organic shapes and near 600lbs. If you prefer to run at triple digit speeds then look at another machine. The Tenere will do it but not its forte.

I watch this guys videos here and there. Informative...but hard to decipher his sarcasm many times. His review is fair enough. Yes, the bike can be easy. I don't want to feel like I'm fighting my bike. I want to ride my bike and not feel like the bike is riding me.

I'd like to know what ECU programming he used to get an additional 20 hp!?!

Funny he takes about turning off ABS for offroad and doesn't like the tires. But if one watches the Mototrek guys videos he talks about how one should use ABS offroad and that most tires are capable off road. It's one of his "Adventure Motorcycle Myths" videos. Edit:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xmhlO1PiGag He starts to talk about not turning off ABS at 2:15 in the video, and I tend to agree with him. I know some people like to slide. I do on a much lighter bike....

He harps on the weight of the bike...but doesn't the GS only weigh 30 lbs. more?
