I suppose it all depends on your bike rides!!!I have both at the moment 2020 s10 and a t700 world raid love them both but probably ride the world raid a bit more lately. The smaller the road the better the raid gets.It can handle the highway no problem and could easily sit at 80 or 90 mph on the big highway all day long but the s10 would be more suited to that kind of riding. I think the shaft and tubeless are a big plus.I would hate to get a puncture on the raid on a winters night 100 mile from home but that said why worry about something that might never happen . All considered the t700 is a fine machine and I do love riding it .
Thank you. I removed the deposit on the T7 and keeping the Super T. I just did an oil change again after only 4K kms and I used Motul 7100 full synthetic. Holy crap! It’s like a new bike! Whatever the service garage used for oil on the last change must have been garbage cheap oil. I’ll be doing all my own oil services going forward.

Our bikes are like that. You change the oil it gets real happy. The new oil did the trick, the brand not so much.... Our bikes do not like extended oil changes. The oil is shared by the clutch and transmission. If you have trouble shifting to 2nd thats your sign.... CHange the oil and filter.

Do you mean that Motul is not a good brand? Do you suggest something else?

not at all probably in the top 3 brands. If money were no object I would have no problem running it. We just had a post where the guy just turned 300K. Near as I can figure best bang for the buck Shell T6 Rotella the infamous $20 blue jug. One guy has run a Myriad of oils some car oils and has over a 100k.

Without capping off another oil thread (war) these engines are long lived. The most important thing is to change your oil , not what you are running. I have yet to see a post that claimed a certain oil killed their engine. Lack of oil or long intervals will kill it though ...... Energy saving oils can cause your clutch to act up though :(

Longer intervals are not advisable, shared oil thing

Yeah the Motul is crazy expensive. $80-ish. But I am saving money doing my own oil changes so worth it if the bike runs that much smoother. I’ll give shell T6 rotella a try next time. Maybe save some $$. Thanks for the reply!

what ever make you happy with proper maintenance you are hard pressed to wear these tings out. You will get tired of if or will have crashed it :(

One of our moderators got the itch and started switching bikes a pretty good clip for a while. The itch is real :( So many fish in the sea

Just looked where you are from. You ride in the US much?
I plan to. I live in Calgary, Alberta. The Montana border is 2 hours ride from my place. I rode down through Montana on a previous bike a few years back. (2009 V-Strom 1000). And lots of road trips through the states in cars. Where are you? Any suggestions? I have driven the Oregon coast but would like to do it again on a bike.

I have a 2019 ST and a 2013 WR250R. 600lbs and 300lbs bikes. The WR is way better for everything other than the highway. Much easier to pick up. The ST is way better for going places on paved roads, but it can still survive on most forest service roads when needed.

I've been using Valvoline synthetic 10W-40 motorcycle oil on my ST and WR. I buy the Yamaha filters from bike shops that sell on amazon. I change it at least annually, but I only ride maybe a few thousand miles a year lately between both bikes.

Yes a secondary dual sport would be a great option for me. We have a ton of mountain roads to explore a less than an hour away. I’ll be servicing my bike more frequent than the manual suggests I think. I’ll see how this run goes with the Motul full synthetic.
