Still waiting to see if the border will be open without travel restrictions.

Anything new on this or is it dead ?
It’s not dead it’s just sleeping.
unfortunately my job has changed a bit and it’s not looking like I will be able to get away in June. July is looking promising but can’t confirm yet.
for those that are able to get there in June we should be able to arrange meet up places and suggestions for camping or accommodation as well as some sort of commemorative swag.

I would suspect the vaccination requirement will be around next year too, the testing requirement that’s anyones guess. There is lots of pressure to remove testing.

I'm still present but (barely) otherwise accounted for. Whitehorse in June would be a tough row with my present job, but hope it comes off!

Just saw this thread linked in the FB group.
Now following. I’m in Metro Atlanta area - time to look up the seat time and accommodations Alon the way and see if this long ride would fit into the calendar.

I recognize the appeal of holding the 10 year anniversary at the site of the original event. I really do. But considering the proposed date is only 23 weeks away, it's challenging to think anyone can count on Canada being as open as the Canada we US riders know and love to visit. Today's guidance:

Oh_Canada.jpg

I believe Canada has been very strict with their own citizens. Challenging to think by June the doors will be thrown open to everyone with the guidance to enjoy the bounty that is Canada. It could happen, but how far in advance of a rally would that word get out?

Sorry, not wanting to rain on any parades, but the calendar is unrelenting in the way it clicks off days.

If Canadian and US riders are relegated to their respective homelands, something closer to a border crossing may offer more options for late (and welcomed) lifting of restrictions. As Adventure riders we don't like to think of ourselves as "practical" but the truth is...

I'll throw out an idea, and NO, I do not have time to do any planning, so if no one else wants to pick up the ball and run, then this idea can die here. The Tenere rally has never visited the north east region of the US. There's a whole lot of great riding between Saranac Lake/Lake Placid in the Adirondacks of New York, through the Mad River region in VT to the spectacular region up and around Mt Washington in NH. The summer time weather is usually good, there are lots of ferrys to cross the big lakes, the scenery is great, the paved stuff is awesome, and you can get as hardcore as you want with the nearby NEBDR.

The nice thing is, if restrictions evaporate, it's all very close to the Canadian border where we might get to see Limey again!

Just a thought.

Used to make an annual trip to Mad River area every Columbus day weekend for some leaf peeping, beautiful area with some awesome craft breweries.

Finger Lakes region of NY is another option.

Time certainly passes quickly, and yes there are a few unknowns outside of our control that make planning difficult. If some one wants to work on an east coast event I’m sure it will be well attended.
A few of us west coasters will continue with our planning and hopes that riders from both sides of the border can get together without restrictions. Doug

This is my first time in a while to visit the forum as I was looking for some maintenance info. I started renting out my Tenere 3 years ago when I acquired an older KTM 950 for more aggressive off pavement / dirt touring (and #140 lighter for pickups). There were plenty of rentals from riders all over the world which made great friends.
While test riding I remembered why I bought the beast and am intent on completing the 100k miles intended on my bikes and this ought to really knock off a chunk from Austin, Tx. I'd be obliged for a route or two to the event by another southie. Due north to cross the border, angle NW? Certainly like to avoid cosmopolitan quagmires.
Cheers

For everyone’s planning purposes, I’m hoping to be able to delay this two weeks from the proposed 24-26 June now to July 8-10. As far as what we have in mind, for most everyone the ride to and from will be most of the adventure. Whitehorse is the gateway to Alaska or to Dawson and Inuvik or Tuktoyuktuk in the Canadian Northwest Territories. The local Yamaha dealer Yukon Yamaha can provide meet up area and we are working on them if tires or service work required. Rem Ricks former moderator and still a Tenere rider can provide a meet up area and a place to have an afternoon beverage and a barbecue. Rem is going to get back to me in the next short while with camping options in the area and motels etc. The lack of tourism in the area over the last two years has probably changed the camping/ motel options from the past.
For now to cross the border into Canada requires a negative Covid test within 72 hours prior to arrival at the border or proof of positive test from 10-180 days prior. There are no interprovincial restrictions. At this time it’s unknown as to if or when these will change. We will keep moving ahead and hope to see more riders on the road this year.
