In May my girlfriend and I are heading to the Iberian peninsula - more precisely northern Portugal and the green corner of Spain (Galicia, Asturias and Cantabria).
We have 3-4 weeks at our disposal which should be enough to thoroughly explore the area - even considering it's a 4-5 days ride from home when avoiding the highway as much as possible.
I got the idea for the trip in the fall coincidentally watching a stage of Vuelta Espania where they passed through Picos de Europa. The area looked ideal for riding.
We will include Portugal as it's the only country in Europe my girlfriend haven't visited yet - and I would love to introduce her to a guy and his family that hosted me when I visited the country for the first time on two wheels back in 2016 (my RR).
It will be a mostly tarmac ride, but if any of you have recommendations regarding easy gravel/dirt roads suited for big bikes (especially in Picos de Europa) I'm all ears!

In the fall I expect to do a weeks ride to Italy with some of my buddies. The purpose for that trip (besides the riding) is to attend the MotoGP race at Misano.

It's nice to have something to look forward to while the bike is hibernating.

Thanks for that Longdog, I wasn't aware of that route but the cold water geyser was on my list when I get down that way again on the bike, I like the look of that volcano museum as well. Germany is a fascinating country, I discovered the Bastei bridge in the sächsische schweiz national park last year, absolutely stunning.
Hi Rob, thanks for the tip about the Sachsische Schweitze National Park, I have been around Dresden and I had never heard of it. It definitely on my list!

My plan this year is to complete the goal of visiting all ten Canadian provinces with 'Shibumi', my Super T. There are only two that she hasn't touched, Prince Edward Isl. and Newfoundland / Labrador.
PEI is close enough that I could be back in my own bed the same day.
Although NFL and Labrador are one province, they are separated by the Gulf of St. Lawrence. My planned destination is Happy Valley-Goose Bay to visit the Canadian Forces 5th Wing. It's about 3,000 km and four ferry sailings return trip and I'll probably take a week to complete. If the weather co-operates I'll do some camping.

Three trips planned (originating from Sweden where I reside):
  1. April, with my girlfriend (she on her Versys and I on the trusted S10) to Kroatia, Bosnia Herzegovina and Montenegro. Montenegro is my new favorite when it comes to scenery.
  2. Late May early June, undefined final destination with my old Boss (we both semi retired last year). The trip will surely include Tranfagarastan in the Carpat mountains.
  3. September, Pyrenees and TET through Portugal with my son.
Yes, I have finally reached the age when motorcycle riding can be a priority. Life is good!

The weather can be tricky on Balkan in April.
Croatia late April 2017:

Absolutely, that’s part of the experience.
Bikes are not for fair weather only!
Looking back at 45 years of riding, most trips include a fair amount of climate challenges.
Me like!

Norway/Sweden once again:cool:. Plan is to reach the artic circle.
Maybe up through Sweden, down through Norway, or the other way.
The route is not finished yet:p
This is at least part of my plan for 2021..............Scandinavian people, brace yourselves for lots of questions and advice nearer the time :)

I normally try and venture abroad a couple of times a year and 2020 is no different.

Trip one is an organised one to Morocco in May although I'll be meeting at least 2 friends on that tour

Trip 2 is late August. Leaving the UK from Hull with 5 friends and down through France stopping in the Loire Valley and then onto Limoges
Rocamadour and Carcassonne . Into Spain for a few nights on the Costa Brava at Tossa del Mar then moving onto Vielha in the Pyrenees, Zaragosa and Pamplona before returning back to Blighty via either Bilbao or Santander

Really looking forward to it
