Back from the Scottish Borders trip, total of 1623 miles. As always, the bike was faultless, as were the three KTMs and the S1000XR. Great roads, some really nice scenery as well. Got a new Shark lid just before the trip, a flip up one, very impressed with it.

Highlights, Kielder Forest and Northumberland National Park, both really scenic with excellent roads and very little traffic. Not been to either previously.

I’d really like cruise and a power shifter!

With Spain remaining on the Amber list, insurance complications and return to the UK testing procedures, for the second year running our Picos trip is not happening. Ferries and accommodation moved forward to next year.

Now looking at the Scottish Highlands, as all European travel by bike is currently looking grim from the UK.

Picos currently looking good for July 2022 (moved out from 2020 and 2021).

Anyone else have bike trips planned for 22?

I’ve got a Stena Lines ferry ticket, a return ticket from Harwich-Hook of Holland which I have had for 2 years since Covid foiled my plans. Now I am wondering whether to go to Southern Germany or up to Denmark and perhaps Sweden or transfer the ticket for Liverpool-Belfast In May.

Southern Germany is nice…….and lots of options from there!

Not been to Scandinavia, but expect it’s nice there as well. I have plans for there next year.

I’ll probably get to Wales at some point again this year, perhaps catch up with some of you Welsh lads for a coffee and a chat.

If you decide to visit Denmark have a look at my ride report from 2020.
Besides inspiration you'll find a GPX file with an amazing 3.900 km route around the country.

If you decide to visit Denmark, I can offer a cold beer, a warm meal and a comfy bed at my place on southern Zealand.

Maybe it’s better to wait and keep my powder dry with the disastrous events happening in Ukraine and see what that lunatic Putin is going to do next.
My advice would be to go as soon as you possibly can.

If not a pandemic or war, something else will come up that could be used as an excuse/reason to stay home.
Time is the only currency that can't be saved up. Every single moment wasted is lost forever.

When that is said I might have to change my plans for riding through Ukraine and Russia to Georgia in the fall...

Thanks Don T, I might just be taking you up on your offer! I have been to Denmark a couple of times, first time it was for the mid-summer witch burning up in Skagen and the second time we stayed at the fort in Charlottenburg. Oh, I forgot, we stayed at Ribe and Tonder and we went to Romo. I did think about heading up to Fredrikshaven and crossing to Gothenburg then riding south and back over the bridge. We shall see!
