I'm guessing it's price point thing, but the paint job/schemes seem to be getting weaker, and weaker. My first impression/thought was that they had left it unpainted so the purchaser could have it painted the color of his/her choice. But, they call it ceramic ice, so apparently it IS painted. Graphics might be nice, but there have been some beautiful paint from Yamaha in the past. I don't understand. Glad I got mine when I did.

The ES looks like someone priced it together from crashed bikes with the white tank, black plastic and blue wheels. The non-ES looks better, but didnt they fo thst Blue tank/Black plastic a few years ago?

Like Sierra1. I'm glad I got mine when I did.

No mention of heated grips. No mention of self cancelling signals. Just that big white tank. Time to jump on a 2018 I think. The blue wheels look cool though!

Anyone watch the presentation ? Wtf. Sh!t stage , pure rubbish , when you consider what Ducati done yesterday with video/ stage / lighting / excitement etc !

So really yamaha have nothing new to shout about. 1.5hrs of european board room massage ego power point mind numbing brain saturation b.s. Yeah im disappointed.

T7 in europe for 2019 apparently but thats it. I didnt see anything else new. Im underwhelmed.

Not me , but the new gs will pull sales bigtime in europe from yamaha & others. Yamaha dont seem to be doing much at all......

Looks like they have renamed the bike Tenere 1200, at least so far as the decals on the faring go. I wonder if it will say Super Tenere anywhere on the bike? No 2019 non-ES model?

I'm happy....Looks like the seat is more flat looking at the picture and the weight is 9 lbs. heavier. The fact that it is virtually the same...means the value on our bikes is maintained! I'm happy with my 2015. Plenty of power for my riding ability. I value reliability. I ride in both heavy traffic and long trips through rural roads. Don't want to overheat or break down in EITHER location. Why does no one mention torque curve? Other bikes might have more hp and just a tad more or less torque...but in my opinion...our torque curve is the best. Especially when it comes to being loaded down!!! Especially smoothness on highway speeds. Especially affecting longevity/reliability on the engine. (Especially when riding in 95F and higher Texas heat!!! It's not like anyone is going to be doing any motogp riding on a heavy "adventure" bike! Especially offroad! Heck! Most people think my S10 is a BMW anyway!

You have to admit that Amy/Emmi was easy on the eyes! But yeah... it was a serious circle jerk and an hour and a half I’ll never get back.

I read the link to the Yamaha Canada site and the biggest takeaway I found is that it states the bike is supplied with iridium spark plugs!

None of the other Yamaha sites talk about horse power, only torque is mentioned, presumably because if you are a REAL adventurer then you know that torque is king and hp is just bragging rights. My thoughts are that Yamaha fear falling too far behind the others in the ever increasing hp battle that all the other manufacturers are concerning themselves with and are studiously ignoring the hp figure. Yamaha could hardly fanfare that for the 5th year in a row the engine (indeed the entire bike) is essentially unchanged. For me this is no biggy. I like the performance and see no need for "more", but there are others who believe, rightly, in incremental upgrades and see this as merely stagnation of the formula.

I think at some point Yamaha are going to have to do a major revamp though. They need to improve the breed and attract new buyers. I've already got mine, so they're not selling to me and they are so reliable that I'm not going to replace it for the sake of a new colour scheme. Existing owners will only get the new model if it has some must-have features over the current bike. This doesn't.

I’d say nothing more than a color change for both the ST & FJR.
New paint new graphics. Maybe a new color display like the FJ09/Tracer.

The new FJR will probably be black, gray or silver. :(
I think some of us have got Yamaha figured out. They’ll dump money into a Transatlantic cruiser tweak the FJ09 or develope a new dirt bike and leave what works alone.
They did surprise me with keeping the FJR matt blue, which I thought wasn’t that big of a seller and pushed me into buying the ST.

Oh well, maybe 2020 will be the generational change....for both?

I came from a Kawasaki ZRX1200 to my gen1. Before I got my S10 flashed. The deceleration and touchy throttle bugged the crap out of me. It could possibly be the best thing I've done to mine.

Yamaha seems to have changed their naming convention for adv bikes. The S10 is no longer called the ‘Super Tenere’. Also note the decals on both bikes .. ‘T7’ and ‘T12’ are bold and highlighted. Would the S10 be eventually called ‘T12’ going forward?

The website CALLS it a Super Tenere, but you're right, the decals label it as a T12 Tenere. And, I'm sorry, the Ceramic Ice color scheme leaves me cold, no pun intended. Recently, each new model has less paint, more bare plastic. But, if a person were to throw the bike around off road, less paint means less paint damage. The plastic just blurs together though. I've got mine though, so they can do whatever they want. ;)
