Judging by the valve stem, the new flange looks like it's about a quarter inch taller. Hopefully that's a cure for some of those cracking issues in the older rims. I dread that happening; the rim alone is close to 300 dollars, not counting labor for someone to re-lace it. I did see that the part number for the old rim (94440-17003-00) has been superseded by 94440-17008-00 on Rocky Mountain's OEM parts site.

Kinda looks like they also moved the holes where the spokes go through the flange closer to the wheel rim leaving more material between the edge of the flange and the spoke holes. They look more centered in the width of the flange on the older wheel.

So from what's being spoken off, if you were unlucky enough to have need of a new rear wheel rim, that's the new part numbed wheel, would it fit staight into an earlier bike, ie mine, a 14ES ?
Plus as in my case, would you be able order it in the colour of you old one, ie ( black ), our would it turn up in purple and then having to get it repainted, just wondered ?

They cannot get any closer to the rim than they are.

Strange, I can't find any online Yamaha dealer with 2019 S10 parts listed.
Me either. Also have not seen these rims in person. I’m still wondering if these pictures are photoshopped.

I would suspect this was done more so to keep the spokes the same length for backwards compatibility. ;)

Spareparts from the Scandinavian Yamaha page.
First picture from year 2017, where there are 2 models, so it seems to have changed already in 2017, because the one number is the same as in 2019 model.

This a picture of the Blue 19 wheel right off Yamaha's website. The rim is the same as older models, not beefed up. ?????

On Rocky Mountain's site, the old part number for the test rim on a 2014 S10 has been replaced with a new number.

Assuming the wheel rim and hub have the same geometry as before, placing/moving the holes on the flange out on a slightly larger diameter would require longer spokes
From what I see, the holes are in the same place, attached to the rim. The reinforcement is from the hole up. I don't think that at this point in the life of the S10, Yamaha will think about changing the spokes. The rim thing was a claim, but not the spokes
