This just doesn't feel right. Left home in Northern Virginia around 7:30am today. Rode for nearly 11 hours. Four times crossed from one state to another during more than 450 miles. Tonight I'm here in... Southwestern Virginia. Damn, this is a big state.

Location feeling wrong or not, don't care, the ride so far has been great. Managed to find endless twisty roads and spectacular views.

Like this along Rt33

Or my lunch spot on top of Highland Scenic Highway

Not sure what tomorrow holds. Possibly a stop at Wheels Through Time.

See you all at some point tomorrow.

Still have to figure out what route I'm taking tomorrow. Might check out Wheels Through TIme

I know this looks premature... It was great meeting you all... Heading back to Colo to nurse badly bruised ribs (thanks, damned hotdog driver!) & get ready for flight to Australia. Preciate Gunner's help & Dan's bunk for the day. Seeya all later ... Ride safe.

If any of you want to come to Mexico City we will happily put you up and show you around.
We are now in Gatlinburg and will walk around tiwn soon with all the other people.
We had a great ride here through the Foothill Parkway and then the River Road. The last couple of miles had a lot of traffic but I somehow resisted the urge to fly down the midfle od the yellow line.

For trailering in 'cold', never having met anyone before, and riding something besides an S10, well I was sure impressed. I had a great time, and enjoyed meeting everyone. Thanks all for putting up with me, I learned a lot. Y'all are good ambassadors to the sport, and to the bikes. Hey, sounds like we need a 2019 edition in Mexico City!

To all at Tellico, I had a great time with great people.
Sorry if I woke you early this morning, could not get the bike to start. Engine light was still on when I tried to start it. After a few tries it was off to home. I was worried when I stopped for gas if it would restart. It did every time.
One note of interest, when I put the cruise control on the cruise indicator started to flash and I thought for a moment the bike was going to shut off. I came home without using it. It will be off to the bike doc for a check up this week
Again good time and great riding Friday and Sat with good guys.
Patrick, nice job. Thank you!
Jim

I-81 in VA was the world's longest parking lot yesterday. Had to jump off in Roanoke and take the Blue Ridge Parkway, and other back roads. Made it home just as it was getting dark. Only had to dodge 4 deer at the end.

Great event! Really enjoyed it. Thanks to everyone who came to make it what it was.

Special thanks to:
Patrick - I'm fully aware these things don't happen on their own. Great job coordinating the gathering. Thanks for all your efforts.
BigBob - Thanks for making my ride home much safer. Your left mirror will be in the mail heading home to you later this week. Looks like granny's poor driving skills is going to cost me around $40 for the mirror and still need to get the top case figured out.
Checkswrecks - Thanks for two great rides. Always enjoy following a competent ride leader.
Limey - Thanks for hauling me around in the truck for dinner each night. Great to meet your wife.

Just took a couple of photos the whole time.

Great lunch/ice cream spot. Horrible spot for senior citizens to be driving.

Had a really good time till the ride home where I-81 had about an hour and a half of delays. It was nice to sleep without the barking dogs.

Dirt_Dad - We missed getting a photo of the dumfounded old lady when standing by your bike.

A few photos:

Really enjoyed seeing old friends, meeting new ones, and a couple of the wives. As always, I'm abuot 45-60 minutes north of DC and west of Baltimore with an open bedroom.
