I personally think the new Yamaha tour bike was aimed at H-D, not Honda. I'm not a Honda fan, but nobody has been able to dethrone the GW in the US....ever. The article also confirmed my belief that the new GW looked smaller; in this case, less is more.

It looks far superior to the GL1500 and previous GL1800 - especially the bagger. Quite a bit of work to lose 90#. I suspect that H-D sales are going to drop even more after this comes out.

Honda has been boring/weird for a decade or more. This is a step in the right direction.

The front wheel suspension, have it been like this "BMW style" for many years?
(Never really looked at at Gold Wing)

A couple of negative comments; first they've dropped the fuel capacity by 1.1 gal from 6.6 to 5.5 and secondly the luggage capacity is slightly reduced. Both seem like the wrong direction for a touring bike.

Other than the above, I think it's a great update and long overdue.

They CLAIMED increased fuel mileage, which would give the same range to empty. But you're definitely right about the reduced luggage capacity.

Strange that they have a regular Gold Wing and then a Gold Wing "tour". What else is a Gold Wing for if not touring?! Looks good though...

It also has no tail/brake lights on the trunk this year. Not thrilled about that. I like my lights as close to eye level as possible, not just below the trunk.
I read in an article that said that Honda's theory behind the smaller bags was most Wing riders rarely use all the luggage space available so they decided to reduce it.

Maybe their version of Yamaha's ES and non-ES....more bells & whistles?

As a Goldwing owner I agree. Less fuel range and less cargo capacity is not a good thing. I like most of it, I guess, I would never opt for any form of automatic transmission, and don't care about bluetooth in the least. Don't want ABS, but now all have it. Lighter weight at the expense of a smaller bike with less fuel range and cargo capacity. More power, but only at high RPM, otherwise same power up til that point. Looks much less plush for the passenger. I like my wheels better on the old GL1800. I like the LED headlamps, adjustable windshield, some of the styling, mostly up front looks great, side view looks great. Small bags and trunk look wrong to me. Front suspension looks interesting, if it works would be a big plus. Lots to like, and lots to dislike to me being an owner. If I had my say, I would have prefered keep the dimensions basically of the older Goldwing and add the new suspension, engine ect. I won't be lusting after it, but 100x better than any of the competition, and priced right. I believe it will sell very well.

Seeing as Goldwing's handle very good for what they are and is now 90 lbs lighter, new front suspension,
I bet it handles pretty darn good now. Not just for 'touring'!
