Anyone getting inaccurate remaining km/mileage to empty. The fuel gauge is correct but the count down is not.

The fuel gauge is accurate but the count down to empty will show 300 to 500 km to empty?

I think the range is using the MPG somehow as I see it change quite a bit when I toggle over to look at it. I've never used it on my 2016 when I hit reserve, I use the standard count up (how many miles I'm riding on reserve). I think I've gone maybe 35 miles on reserve but was not bone dry when I filled. The bike supposedly has a 6.1 gal capacity so based on my fill ups, reserve is around 1.3-1.5 gal (45-60 miles max where/how I ride).

Reserve can trigger early if you lean the bike, etc. so there is always going to be some uncertainty. I think the fuel pump is in the tank so I try not to get too low.

I think if I understand what you are saying is the the remaining miles vary between 3-500 miles. If that is correct then what is happening is the bike is estimating the fuel to empty within a range of time/speed/throttle, if you ride say at 80kph for about 20 mins on flat ground you may see the remaining fuel range extend, the ECU is picking up the way you ride, that's all.

Thx for the replies, looks like it’s performing correctly . My previous Teneres were far more accurate

No, mine is not that far out..
Mine will show something about 50 to 80 km til empty (30 to 50 miles). But I can drive about 100 km (60 miles), IF I drive as I normal do ;)
And yes, it is an estimate based on how you drive right at the moment.
And you will se that is goes down, if you drive /accelrate faster.

I generally don't let it get much lower than a quarter to half full. The fuel is what keeps the pump cool. Beside, I'm too much of a wuss to stay on the bike from full to empty anyway. (nope, I will never have an IBA number) ::001::

I recently did a Saddle Sore 1000 and had plenty of opportunity to observe my gauge. My observations are the following
When the tank is full, is shows a pretty accurate range based on most recent riding patterns (average mpg)
Once the tank goes below a certain level (in my case half full) it becomes completely unreliable, and mine basically reads empty with 1.5 to 2 gallons left in the tank
The range at lower fill levels is very dynamic and is a wonky function of unreliable fill level and recent consumption, so it can move down, or even up. Neither the range read nor the count down are of any real use.

Ultimately I ignored my gas gauge, range, and count down, and instead reset my miles and average fuel consumption to zero after each gas stop. Dividing miles ridden by average consumption gave me a pretty accurate picture of how much gas I had used, so after 120 miles and a 39.8 MPH read, I knew that I had about 3 gal left in the tank. I had planned for fuel stops every ~210 miles and faced some strong headwinds in Kansas and Missouri, so I was pushing it to refilling with less than .5 gal left in the tank, and my dash blinking for 50+ miles, but the average consumption was spot on and provided a reliable estimate.
