Good afternoon (at least here in Eastern Europe), gentlemen!

I've been looking around, but couldn't find a clear answer on the topic. There are rumours travelling around, that there was a few improvements made to 2017 model. Even the model index number have been changed.

One of the rumours says that the loosened spokes issue was sorted out. Some rumours say that the fuel mapping was altered to comply with Euro 4 emission standards.

I just thought, that maybe here is the right place to ask is anybody have heard any more rumours of what happened to 2017 model, because spokes and ECU mapping is clearly not enough to change the model index.
... Euro 4 might be enough i guess though, but maybe there are some facts you know. Even dealership mechanic level rumours would do for me, as I am trying to figure out if I need a 2017+ model of ZE version (the one with electronic suspension adjustment) or 2014-2017 would do.

Thanks in advance!

PS. And yes, I've checked the other threads here, but found no information on the topic. If I missed something, please share the link to the thread where it was discussed.

Hi! Thank you!

Is there anything else, that is worse-than-ever in 2017 model other than mapping and colours? :)

I thought that the standard mapping of my 2017 was better than that on my 2014. However, the earlier Euro 3 bike responded beautifully to a couple of O2 eliminator plugs (reverting to the base open loop map), but the Euro 4 bike didn’t because the ecu went wacky trying to resolve what it saw as “faulty” sensors giving a constant voltage. So I had the Euro 4 bike remapped. But as I said, the standard 2017 Euro 4 was absolutely fine. I only had it remapped to improve the off/on throttle transition, reduce the engine braking and lower the fan temperature a bit. Just personal preference and certainly not necessary! They added a charcoal thingie to absorb fumes from the fuel tank for Euro 4.

Otherwise the bikes are the same.

I know that I'm "over here", but, I suspected that something had been changed/improved in '17. When I was reading about other bikes on the forum, I realized that my '17 seemed to be different. Plenty of horsepower, a very high top speed, and less issue with the on/off throttle condition. I still have not had to tighten any of my spokes, and I'm almost paranoid about them loosening after reading about everybody else having loose spokes. I do have to disagree about the "worst colours" though. I have a beautiful Cobalt Blue pearl, but I also know that y'all have different color choices. Maybe I just got a real good one.

Personally, I like the sand and dark blue colors that we got in the US.
Haven't ridden a 2017 Euro spec but found very little difference in riding somebody else's 2017 back to back with my 2014.

From the folks on the German XT forum who owned all three models (DP01, 04, and 07) I was told that the DP07 actually has the best mapping of the bunch, with no discernible throttleing that would necessitate a remapping. That was the reason for me to buy a new model. I'm not a good reference for other people's color choices, I like the Ice Fluo color scheme, but then my Fat Bob is orange, and I ordered it that way.

Sorry; About the ECU mapping, I´m talking about the low rpm range of the bike.
I had a Viper blue 20150127_125727.jpgimg_2012.jpgFirst Edition model (GEN1) I can say that I had no problems with the low range at city conditions for example.
However now I have a 2018 Third Generation Euro 4 ST and I don´t like the low rpm response. The bike is not linear at 200-2500rpm.
All in all the First gen was smoth and the new one is more rough.
I´m sorry is my opinion.

About the colours;
There was a time when YAMAHA chose at least three colour for the same year.
Nowadays the paintings are a Marylin Manson EMO design,
-Come on YAMAHA! Yo can do better, People can only buy the BATMAN Edition (matt black) or the " I wan´t a blue but I can´t blue model" , Sorry I wanted to say the black one with the blue tank" (mine)

Interesting claims.......

Worst model? How do you work that out? In what way?
Worst colours? Well that could be down to taste and personal preference.
Worst ECU mapping? Says who? I would certainly dispute this as my 2017 model has excellent fuelling, in fact it was one of the points that stood out on the test ride.

It will be interesting to read how you quantify your claims.

In my opinion, the bike is not fine at low rpm, in traffic conditions at 2000-2500 rpm the bike is jerky, it has not a linear response.
over 3000 rpm no problem.

This might be off topic, but I'm trying to find adjustable footpegs for my USA 2017 non-es model and this is the only thread I have found that even mentions DP-07. SW-Motech keeps showing parts only for ES model or a DP-07 model. Wouldn't they be the same as far as footpegs go? Am I missing something?

All Gen IIs are the same, as far as external body parts. Then ES has that right side panel that the non-ES doesn't have, but for the U.S. that's it. So, yes the foot pegs are the same.
