You are inspirational 2112!

However, I gotta admit it is a bit revealing that I need to get-a-life, if the first thing I did in the NEW YEAR was visit the forum. ???

Donation sent. PM'd Venture to let him know. (per his request)
Happy New Year earlybirds

I've always found it interesting that many of us help with a donation to keep the board running. I've always felt a personal 'thumbs up' to those folks for understanding what it takes and cost to keep up a board like this. There are NO set predetermined amounts required to take part in a 'donation'; yet some folks on this board that have been on this board for years, and some that have posted a lot have NEVER donated $1 to help the cause.... No one has to donate anything to participate on this board. But I've just found it very ODD that a few people here have posted hundreds of times for several years and even made money off the board and never helped support the community, not even $1.... Strange in my book..... Anyone EVER notice this ?

If you participate on this board, and you feel you gain knowledge from reading and participating on this board, think about supporting this forum in 2015 if your able... ::008::

Ok, stepping down from the soap box.... LOL

Nice rant, and you are of course correct Tabasco, I've witnessed this on other forums too. I guess some people like to give and some like to take...

More importantly what colour are the 2015 supporter medals going to be ?

Hey Chris,

I sent you a donation on 2/16. Didn't know that I had to post here to get the badge.
Donation sent a few days ago and PM sent to Venture. I have never noticed the badges. Do I have to enable a certain setting or? What do they look like?

Thanks

It's not cheap for hosting, especially if you have a high traffic site and need a dedicated server. The forum software from Simple Machines is free at least but there are much better and more robust tools like vBulletin that cost hundreds of dollars. Then the time spent to maintain, update, moderate and de-spam the forum is tremendous as well. I've hosted and moderated several forums over the years and I understand the work involved. In fact, I'd be happy to help out here wherever needed. Long story short, it's well worth the "investment" of a donation although I'm not one to tell people how to (not) spend their money.

You don't see the badges under your screen name (see attached)? You are going to have to move to date ranges soon :D

I have noticed that the badges do not show up for me in Safari but do appear when using Firefox.

I'll try firefox and see if they show up there. I have been using IE 11 and see the post count and the stars with Hero member, but no badges.

Thanks.

Well, I tried firefox and it is the same there, No badges. Also in the example that JRE attached it not only shows badges, it shows my location and join date. I see none of these, so I must not have something selected in my profile. In looking at Joe's attachment, matter of fact, I see that I have a badge for site supporter for 2011, 2012, and 2013, but evidently missed 2014. My 2015 has not been added yet, it appears. It would be helpful to see those as they would be a good reminder.

Thanks.

Well, there's your problem :))

I don't see anything in the settings to hide or show that. You can hide/show avatars but it doesn't seem to affect the badges. If you are using an adblocker, that could POSSIBLY be hiding the images.

Ok, I found the reason I am not seeing badges and other items with my avatar. Under my profile settings, look and layout, I prefer the look of white background with black text rather than the default one with black background. If I switch to the default layout, I see the badges for site supporter, founding member, location. When I go back to my preferred layout of white background they no longer show up. I really don't care for the black background, so I'll stick to my present settings and just won't see the badges.

So, I guess, it all comes down to............................. Badges, I don't need no stinking badges. (somebody had to say it) ;D
