If you have the recall notice the repair is no charge.
You should not need a letter. Your bike’s VIN number just has to be included in the coverage range. A friend of mine had his done just looking it up at his local dealer.

Made an appt last month. Got it done today. About an hour from in to out. Of course, this last month the CC didn’t act up once. Hopefully this takes care of the intermittent problem.

What is the exact recall for, is it dangerous. I have just bought a new s10, dealer said he would get back to me to see if it has been done... surprise, not heard anything, just going to carry on riding it until I get it sorted. Can I check myself on a Yam website maybe?

If your S10 is new it may not be affected. Yes, you may be able to check it out on the Yamaha website. It wasn’t much help to me as it didn’t recognize the serial # of my 2016.

Evidently the front lever brake switch gets sticky or corroded and manifests as a cruise control malfunction, causing it to disengage or making it impossible to engage initially. The safety bit is that the brake light may also be permanently illuminated making it difficult for traffic behind to realize you are applying the brakes.

I find it funny how the dealerships are so different, the little shop I use checked my vin number and ordered the part and sent me on my way. It gets don next Tuesday. My son also has a Ten and it's stored here at my place, when I called to make my App to get it installed I asked if I could get his recall done also, part got ordered no problem.

Just booked mine in for its first service and recall. Has anybody got any pics of where this switch is to check to see if it has been done or not when I get it back. It can't take that long to take a side panel off and lift the tank if that's is what is involved. Being in the motor trade you wouldn,t believe what goes on, or what may not go on in this case. It would be nice to mark it to check it has been done!!

I presume the old switch is different so I will ask to see it to compare!
