Hi All,

I live near Denton, Texas. Can anyone recommend a Yamaha dealer near me that will do a good for the brake switch recall?

Thanks!

I'm gonna go to Burleson Power Sports, but that would be a pretty good haul for you. But, they have great techs, and customer service.

Maxim Honda in Plano just did the recall on my 2015 and seem to have done a good job.. still a bit of a haul for you, but possible. They did it whilst I wanted, took about 3p minutes.

Be prepared to wait. My dealer has been waiting for the part for about 2 weeks and doesn't know when he will get it.

Had mine replaced last Tuesday. Made the appointment a month prior. The appointment was at 9:30. At 11:30 went and asked how much longer, and they hadn’t even started. Didn’t get out of there until 1:30.

Since it sounds like there might be a shortage of switches and mine is working fine I’m Plenty willing to let others experiencing problems go first and wait for the supply of switches to become plentiful.

When I was living in Texas, I had Maxim do the wiring recall on my 2013. The tech that did mine, showed me his work, and it was first class.

Maxim was the only local dealer for me, that did not require seeing or holding the bike. They only wanted the VIN to order the parts, and called me when they had it.

I contacted the Yamaha dealer in Gainesville, Tx. They wanted bike to stay overnight just to order parts! They are pretty busy with 4 wheelers. I'll call Maxim with my vin to see how we can get the recall done.
Thanks

Inventory costs money. No sense buying what they don't need. I don't worry about how long it takes to get the part. . . . or even install the part. . . . as long as the part works.

I haven't had any problems with my cruise control or anything else that could be related to the brake switch yet. The bike has been reliable and I enjoy riding it. I may buy new battery before taking a trip in may to Grand Canyon.

Stopped by my local dealer to inquire about process for mine, a 2014, that I just got the second letter for. They said bike needs to be dropped off before part ordered as it’s a safety issue, it needs to be off the road. Um, no.
I‘ll watch the long term forecast and pick some crappy weather to let them have it.

Had mine done last Friday at Lone Star in Irving. Made appointment 4 days in advance. Showed up early and was back on my bike in 45 minutes. 2 of the mechanics ride Super Teneres so I'm guessing it helps.

I just got mine done this past Tuesday and was the first one this dealership did.

From what the rep said, Yamaha specs 0.3 hr for the job but it it took them longer. Probably a learning curve involved since they'd never done one before.

I never did get a recall notice from Yamaha. I stopped by the dealership and had them run the VIN, and they got the recall notice that way. They ordered the part, though it's a question about how long it'll take to get it.

Lone Star Yamaha of Irving, Tx replaced my brake switch for the recall today. It took about 45 minutes. The guys were friendly and knowledgeable about the Super Tenere. Thanks for the recommendation to use their shop!
