2012 Yamaha Super Tenere with 2015 DMC Expedition sidecar. $16K or best offer. Bike is in SE Michigan.

21824 miles on bike, around 3000 miles on sidecar which was professionally installed by DMC Sidecars in Enumclaw Washington.

I bought this bike new and rode it about 19,000 miles as a solo before installing the sidecar. I love this bike and the sidecar was my attempt to keep riding it after losing use of my left foot and leg to a disability. The sidecar holds the bike up and the Klicktronic shifter allowed me to shift gears without cooperation from my left foot. But my left hand has become a problem as well; I can no longer operate the clutch. Also, fatigue and weakness mean it is now too large for me to comfortably manage. I only put about 100 miles on it in 2018. Still not quitting but it is time to sell it to someone who will ride it more, and look for my next option.

This DMC Expedition sidecar has electric trim adjustment, sidecar windshield, tonneau cover, fabric door, seatbelts, Rotopax aux fuel tank (never used), luggage rack, front bumper, seatbelt, driving lights, etc. The Expedition is the largest sidecar DMC makes, and is well matched to the size of this bike, but this means the whole rig is on the large side. If you wanted to carry an adult AND a large dog in the sidecar, or multiple kids/dogs, it is that big.

The front end of the bike is adapted to modify the trail and lighten the steering. It also has a steering damper. It has a car tire on the rear but I would not call it the dark side, because sidecars don't lean. It handles very well even at high speed.

Bike has a Klicktronic shifter, AltRider topcase rack with Givi adaptors, removeable sidecase racks, LED driving lights, Skene Photon Blaster marker lights, Hyperlights brake lights, heated handgrips, mounted Warmnsafe heat troller for electric jacket, multiple powerlet outlets, Signal Dynamics volt meter, Flash2Pass garage door transmitter, etc.

When I got the sidecar, I had both the bike and the sidecar professionally painted in traditional Yamaha yellow with filmstrip decals, "Kenny Roberts" style. If this was going to be my only bike, I wanted it to be yellow!

This spring we changed the oil, coolant, brake and clutch hydraulic fluid, final drive oil. Everything is in tip top shape and if my body would cooperate I'd ride it cross country tomorrow. It has never been down. I have all the paperwork, a shop manual, extra windshields, etc. I have about $30K in this rig but alas you don't get back what you put in; I am only asking $16K and will entertain offers. I am happy to answer questions or provide more pictures. I love to talk about this bike so it's no imposition to contact me even if you're not in the market and you just want to ask me questions. But if you are on a ship at sea and you want me to take a third party check and ship it to Nigeria, no thank you.

Glad to hear that you are still hanging in there, even if not riding so much now.
GLWS!

EFM makes something similar to the Rekluse, for the Tenere. I went to his shop in Ohio and had him install one. It is good at parking lot speeds, solves the issue I have with insufficient strength to feather the clutch for long. Upshifts are buttery smooth beyond anything I could ever have achieved even when all my body parts worked. But it won't downshift until you slow to almost a complete stop. With all this extra weight from the sidecar, you need to downshift to come out of bends. I took it out, put the bike back to stock. If anyone else wants to try it, it I am happy to send it along. A solo bike might not need downshifting as much.

I’ve added a few farkles to make it my own; Heidenhau K37 Front Sidecar Tire, AltRider Pillion Rack, 1.25” Handlebar Raisers, Two Brothers Exhaust, 137db Air Horn, and a BeadRider Deluxe Cushion. I’ve disconnected the Klicktronic Shifter — I just couldn’t get comfortable with it.

I plan to buy an aftermarket comfort solo saddle and would welcome any recommendations. I’m leaning toward a Saddlemen Adventure Tracker.

If you're going to spend that kind of money on a seat, get a custom one to fit you specifically. Having experience with several different makers, I would strongly advise you to seriously consider a Russell Day Long seat.

Thanks for the advice, I’ve heard good things about the RDL Seat. Over 50+ years of motorcycling I’ve had good seats from Sargent and decent seats from Corbin, but I’ve never owned a RDL. I’ll look into one.

If you or the new owner wants to part with the auto clutch let me know
Yes, I got the auto clutch as part of the deal. My plan was to sell it to a riding buddy who also has a Super Tenere. As luck would have it, he has decided to trade his ST in on a new KTM Super Duke. I’ve been waiting to see if he’s going to change his mind before offering it it for sale. So as of right now the auto clutch is available providing he goes through with switching brands of adventure bike.

I just answered a PM from doc187 offering to introduce him to Ace_Cafe_Rat, but now I see I don't need to. Great!

I've had three Russell Day Longs on past bikes and would always go for them again if needed. I found the stock seat on the Super10, pretty comfortable so I didn't put one on it.

Only one of the RDLs I had was made for me - the other two were secondhand. The secondhand ones were made for two very different riders, but both of them were very comfortable for me. Funny how they work out.
