Overview
2012 Yamaha Super Tenere in blue (the best looking color!). This is a 1 owner bike, I purchased it new and configured it for a trip to Alaska and has seen many other states in between. It is set up for comfort and long haul touring. I rode my 1st Iron Butt ride on this bike completing 1,116 miles in 20 hours. I rode and maintained this bike like I was going to keep it forever, as that is what I thought I was going to do. But a job change, kids, and general life changes have found me not riding the bike much at all in the past 2 years. I have decided to sell it instead of having it sit collecting dust in the garage. I would not hesitate to hop on it today and ride it ANYWHERE. It has been dead reliable. I would say 85% of my riding was road (commuting and camping trips) and 15% off-road (gravel & dirt 2 tracks). This has by far been my favorite bike I have ever owned. Bike currently has ~80k miles on it.

Maintenance
Oil & filter was changed originally at 400 & 1,400 miles for break in with OEM Yamaha oil, then every ~4,000 miles with Mobile 1 Full Synthetic.
Final drive fluid was changed every other oil change with Mobile 1 synthetic gear lube.
Final drive shaft splines were cleaned and greased every tire change.
Valves were checked/adjusted & new spark plugs @ 24k and 56k.
Brake & clutch fluid flushed/replaced @ 27k.
Front & rear brake pads changed @ 60k.
Final drive inner o-ring and oil seal replaced @70k.
Forks serviced/rebuilt @ 76k with Stoltec .90 straight rate fork springs

Warranty/Recall
Headlight wiring harness was replaced under warranty @ 44k
Cam chain tensioner was replaced under warranty with the upgraded part # @ 56k
Cam chain was also replaced under warranty @ 56k

Body
The bike is extremely clean and well cared for, but this is not a garage queen. The bike was used for its intended purposes so there are a normal amount of scuffs and scratches. The right side AltRider crash bar has a scuff on it form a low speed dump. There are 2 small dings on the top right side of the gas tank.

Included Accessories
  • Vista Cruise throttle lock
  • Wasp tank decals
  • Eastern Beaver PC8 fuze panel
  • Tech Spec tank grip pads
  • AltRider Crash bars
  • LED battery gauge
  • Fork Seal Protectors
  • Heated grips w/ LED control
  • Handlebar risers
  • Cee Bailey headlight protector
  • Stebel air horn w/ wiring harness
  • Cyclops LED headlight conversion
  • New OEM Yuasa battery
  • Fork Spring upgrade - Stoltec .90 straight rate fork springs
  • All stock take-off parts

Deal Details
I am located in the far NW corner of Indiana, about an hour from Midway airport in Chicago, and 1.5 hours from Ohare. I can easily coordinate a fly and ride for you.
$4,200

Additionally Available
I am not parting these items out at this time. First option goes to the buyer. If buyer does not want them, then I will remove them and make them available separately on the forum after the sale completes
(+$500) Jesse Luggage Pannier Set
Odyssey II 10" black bags with mounting racks and lid loops. 2 keys included. The right pannier has some scrapes from a low speed dump and the lid is slightly tweaked. The bag is still completely water tight and 100% functional, it just takes a slight more effort to latch the lid.
(+$200) Bill Mayer Custom saddles
Hands down the best aftermarket seat I have ever owned. Custom made for a ~250lb rider including gear. Includes both driver's and passenger's seats. Here is a link to their page:

I actually have been considering removing some of the accessories and selling separate. Ive just been too lazy to figure out what parts and pricing.

The main ones I would consider would be Jesse bags, skid plate, crash bars, luggage rack, maybe windshield.

I would be interested In all minus the crash bars as I just ordered the Givis. I know the Jessies are expensive so they may be out of my range but Let me know. Thanks

Re: 2012 Yamaha Super Tenere

Kept dragging my feet on parting out the farkles, I still would prefer to keep it all together and sell the package. Just in time for spring... :)

One last price drop. If it does not sell at this price, then I will be removing all the accessories and selling them separately.

Re: 2012 Yamaha Super Tenere

I am more than a little surprised that this bike is still available. Seems like a very well equipped bike for a great deal to me.

If you end up parting it out let me know . I may be interested in the seat.

Re: 2012 Yamaha Super Tenere

I notice Ohlins stickers on the forks. Are there Ohlins parts on the bike? I did see Soltec springs were listed. Sorry, not a buyer, just trying to help.

It's a very nice deal at this price with those farkles. Nothing to be afraid of at 82k either. Has the CCT been upgraded? When was the last valve check done, (mileage wise)?

Re: 2012 Yamaha Super Tenere

There are not Ohlins parts on the bike. I had originally (early on) planned to redo the forks with Ohlins, but never went through with it, but did leave the stickers on as I liked the look. The Stoltec springs were added recently when I had the forks serviced.

The CCT and cam chain were replaced with the upgraded part number under warranty at 56,500 miles on 12/6/2014. The valves were checked at the same time and were within spec and I had them install all new spark plugs while they were in there.
