Greetings, just thought I’d introduce myself to the forum. I’m happy to say that I’ll be looking/buying a new to me 2012 Tenere this Saturday.
it has less than 15,000 miles on it and is pretty well equipped. Is there anything in particular I should be scrutinizing. I’ve owned 12 bikes in my life so I’m familiar with bikes in general.

thanks, Revz

Welcome from Idaho. I’d just put some easy miles on and familiarize yourself with the bike. Then assess how you want to equip it to suit you.

Welcome aboard from sunny Holland.

The gen 2 has got some very usefull upgrades from the factory like the cam chain tensioner and clutch basket. The gen 1 hasn’t got those. They are not difficult to upgrade but cost a few bucks ofcourse. It would be nice if it had already be done. There is enough info on this forum regarding that and how to recognize those parts.

good luck with the purchase and make some miles with the testdrive. The bikes are rocksolid in general.

stefan.

Oh, and check your rear brake pads. Mine were done at just over 20k miles. If it was me, I would change the fluids, and check the air filter. Depends on the previous owners maintenance.

don,t worry about the clutch basket gen 1, some have had a bit of vibration at 3rpm and changed to solve it,

but there are plenty of us with gen 1 bikes that have no issues with bad vibes or clutches

Get you a McCruise and don't wait 5 years like I did. My cam chain started rattling on start up at 21K miles.

Hello welcome to the celebration all the way from LA, CA. If can afford it go for the 2 gen especially if like long tours.

Welcome from Canada!
I also have a 2012.
I would suggest to freshen every fluids and filters. Easy and cheap .
Best used bike I’ve bought!
