Thanks for the schematic. That answers the question on the size of the connector (6 pin connector) with one pin unused. I am looking into those previously mentioned immobilizer emulator hardware solutions and when I have details I will post the results.
Using a wire to pull the OEM pannier latch is a great idea. I will have to try that mod out. In the mean time I obtained some shorter keys from a local locksmith for unlocking the OEM panniers. I also got some regular length unchipped keys as spares. They can turn the bike on but by design the immobilizer prevents the fuel pump from engaging. I tried locating the chipped key near the immobilizer antenna and found that it has to be pretty well centered directly above the unchipped key to work. So the idea of locating a chipped key nearby with epoxy seems unworkable. All fun experiments.

I didn’t unplug my immobilizer to count the pins, but the wiring diagram shows five wires.

I received in some immobilizer test parts to experiment with. But quickly ran into the next problem. In the Canadian model manual does the wiring diagram or the electrical wiring routing guide section show where connector #27 is located? The immobilizer wiring goes under the triple tree/yoke and is impossible to follow without some dissambley. I took off the right hand side panels and loosened off the bolts holding the electrical panel on. That enabled pulling the electrical panel out a bit to see what's behind. But didn't see any likely connector there. As I am doing this outside I can't do a major dissembley. To make it harder the previous owner had added numerous accessory wiring that is hard wired to the battery and other wiring harnesses. So It a very complicated situation with short wires in some places in there. So I put everything back together and thought I would check back here first. Otherwise I will have to wait until Autum when I get access to a better indoor well lit workspace. I am thinking getting to this connector will most closely resemble accessing or removing the ECU.

Hi Garry,
The pictures are much appreciated. I can see the connector is just left of the centerline, and positioned under much including the tank and airfilter. It is not an easy location to get too without removing a few parts..... So will put this off for now and do later this year when I get a workshop set up for working on the bike.

Someone has parted out a 2015 S10 on auction here in Japan. The S10s sold in Japan are EU spec so have the immobilizer. Complete key set with ECU for about C$310. I think Yahoo auction has an option for buying from overseas.

Here is the long delayed update on what to do if you don't have a red key to make new black keys for bikes equipped with an immobilizer or your immobilizer has a problem.
I finally had some time to look at this again after a move and almost 2 years of house renovations.
As it was time to do an air filter and spark plug change the tank had to be moved allowing easy access to the immobilizer coupler. The immobilizer bypass module (purchased online 2 years ago) was a simple install. Disconnect the 6 pin connector at the junction and install the bypass module. I used waterproof tape to protect the now unused connector from the key sensing unit.
Secured the bypass module with zip-tie. Put everything back together and tried starting using a new metal key. Success, the bikes started right up. Now I can make any number of new key replacements and not have to worry about losing my black key. (When I bought the bike used I didn't get the red master key).
This mod is easy to remove and revert back to normal immobilizer operation if needed.

I bought the immobilized emulator unit "Yamaha Immobiliser Emulator Bypass 2006 - 2019 R1 R6 MT07 MT09 MT10 TMAX XMAX" from a UK seller on ebay. There were several sellers of similar products from various countries but I decided to go with one in the UK as they had a lot of positive reviews.

Thanks for reading.

The final conclusion would be that the immobilizer is a simple relay, which with the appropriate code on the key, closes the circuit and sends a signal that enables the start... there is no code connection between the immobilizer and the ecu...

With my immobilizer bypass install I observed no ABS problems and no ABS light problem. I suggest you check other ABS common problems.

The immobilizer shown in your picture is not the same as the one I am using. Mine is fully enclosed with a wiring harness. On my bike when installed the dash immobilizer light remains on and flashes. This light can be stopped by removing one of the wires from the immobilizer harness.
