Tom...can you confirm that these will work with factory winglets? I have been searching but don't seem to find that detail. I'm sure I will need longer bolts? Does this bracket use the same holes?
Maybe someone here has done it? I've never seen the factory winglets in person. My brackets DO use the same holes. I have no doubt they will work together. You may have to get different hardware, but I don't think so. I would guess you may need to slightly enlarge the winglet mounting holes to accept the 1/4-20 hardware I supply.

I'll be picking up some winglets shortly. I'll let folks know how they work if nobody beats me to it.

I ordered mine last night...I'm nervous about the whole size in the winglet needing to be drilled out. I have had some bad luck cracking the plastic in the past with other items. Maybe I'll use a little of that 3m tape on the inside next to the fairing and stay with the hardware that holds the winglets on...I'm sure it will work out great.

They work just fine, worry less.

When drilling in plastic/acrylic, take your time, and keep the drill at a low speed.

I asked at the Post Office today, it sounds like my problem is the flat rate envelopes.

If you guys outside the US PayPal $35 I'll give it a try.

They really do work well. The whole screen and bracket is rock solid, as well as anything mounted to the bar. Be aware that the holes in the adjustment mechanism are no longer able to engage because of the thickness of the brackets. It's not visible. However, this actually makes the screen much easier to adjust. You just have to visually make sure each side is equally raised or lowered. Not a big deal. One of those mods that really does add to the function of the bike. Good job on the design.

Tom, just sent you money. I have the Winglet's on my bike so I'll let you know how they work with them and take a picture of it.

Last night I mounted the anti- vibration bars.
I have the factory Yamaha winglets.

The factory mounting holes in the winglets have to be enlarged slightly to fit the supplied bolts in the kit - I did this with a round file and 10 sec on each hole was enough to enlarge it for the bolts. - you don't have to drill them out - you are probably enlarging the holes 0.5mm.

Ok so the supplied bolt is 1/4 dia - 20UNC, 3/4in long (19mm) do work with the Yamaha winglets - but only just. You have to put pressure on the bolt and push the bolt in to get the nut on, then tighten them up quite a bit - not ideal - but it did survive today's ride.

It would be much better if the bolts were 5-6mm longer at 1in/25mm. as it stands the bolts do not engage the nyloc part of the nyloc nuts if you add the winglets.
If you want to add a rubber spacer between the arm and the winglet, or extra washers you will need to add that thickness as well.

I will be going out and buying longer bolts to fix this, as I dont want vibration working the bolts loose - and LocTite is a nono as you have to take the winglets off to lift the tank to undo some of the bolts on LHS or get the RHS top faring part off.

Today I bought some replacement hardware.

I bought Stainless Steel M6x25mm button head bolts and M6 nyloc nuts. These are 6mm dia so they are a tiny bit thinner than the 1/4in @ 6.3mm dia
So if you have not enlarged the winglet holes wait till you get some M6x25mm bolts!

I also bought some 6mm nylon washers to protect the winglet perspex/acrylic.
so now I have fitted them like this
bolt > nylon washer > winglet > anti-vibration bar > rubber grommet in faring > SS washer > nyloc nut

Bolt length is now perfect with about 2mm sticking out of the nut.

I received my brackets today and installed them. Installation was super easy, I have the Winglet's on my bike. They were off my old tenere and modified the fronts of them to fit on the new bike. I also just used the original hardware that held the Winglet's on and seems to be fine. I still need to take on out for a ride and see how it works.

the original winglet bolts are plastic... i would not trust them to hold it all together. a few good bumps and they might just snap.
