First North American Super Tenere Gathering is being held in Whitehorse, Yukon Canada on July 1 through 5, 2012. This event is being organized by several Yukon Super Tenere owners (the pink is to match Rems custom Pink Whale Foreskin riding suit) and is being co-hosted by Yukon Yamaha.

For riders from out of town the first contact point once in Whitehorse should be at the Local Yamaha dealership. We will have a tent set up and a check-in/sign-in board as well as what is planned for the day. This will give riders the ability to note where they are staying as well as gain information about daily rides and daily activities that are planned. Yukon Yamaha and the tent will be the daily reference point for all activities as well as a central gathering point for kicking tires and telling lies about past escapades.

we have some very remote, world class adv riding in Yukon and access to two Alaska communities within several hours riding through some of the most beautiful mountains in the north.

The Dempster rivals the Alaska haul road but is more remote and less traveled. read "real" adv terrain.
The North and South Canol is some of the most remote riding around and is beyond spectacular.

Yukon could easily be the destination for many. let's start talking this up guys 8)

OK guys and gals I have posted the link to the data base that we are using to track who is committed and who is a wanabe. follow the link and show your interest in comming.

http://www.yamahasupertenere.com/index.php?action=genericDB;sa=viewCategory;cat=7

the event will run from July 1st through July 5th. The event finally will be a BBQ on July 5th in the afternoon which will be co-hosted by our local Yamaha Dealership. The local Dealership has also agreed to provide a tent on site at the dealership for us to use as a daily gathering point for organizing daily rides and other activities that folks want to take in.

I am suggesting the first ride be to Atlin, BC on July 1st to celebrate Canada Day. I am suggesting that we celebrate US 4th of July in Skagway, Alaska. and depending on rider stamina we can head up the South Canol road to Rose Lake.

Skagway and Atlin are both very easy day rides. Pat has arranged an over night in Atlin if anyone is interested. Skagway on the 4th can take a bit of time as there are border crossings both going and coming back. there can be a bit of wait time due to high traffic attending the celebrations in Skagway. Last year I test rode it on the 4th and was in line 45 minutes at the US customs on the way down and about 15 minutes at Canadian customs on the way back. Leaving early from Whitehorse would make for less traffic at US customs. Check the Skagway website for activitys and schedules http://www.skagwaychamber.org/events.html my understanding is that the fireworks are on the night of July 3rd.

Rem has organized an overnight ride up the South Canol for July 2 - 3 to the community of Faro - overnight in Faro the night of July 2 and then return to Whitehorse via the Robert Campbell Hwy and the North Klondike Hwy on July 3. This ride has 8-10 riders signed up already and Rem has arranged some B&B rooms in Faro for those who have committed to the ride.

Pat's overnight Atlin rideWell we are getting another riding event firmed up for the North America’s 1st Super Tenere Gathering. This can be ridden as a 1day out & back ride or as an overnight ride. My recommendation would be for the overnight ride. You will be riding some our most awesome/phenomenal/fantasist (pick your adjective!!) roads & trails we have to offer .
We ride from Whitehorse (Yukon Yamaha) to Atlin BC -186km (115miles) There we will be met by Champion Dog musher Hans Gatt (also a pretty good m/c rider) We will bivouac at his property out on Surprise Lake Rd, just east of Atlin townsite. Here we can offload baggage & setup camp for those who are overnight. Camping is recommended for this outing as Atlin has very few hotel rooms and they would need to be booked NOW if you want a bed.
After getting there we head back to town to partake in Canada Day celebrations and check out some of the scenery. We are also going to be meeting up with another group that came to the north from all over the country. Atlin is hosting an Airplane fly-in this same weekend and we’ve been invited to swap stories and check out each others rides.
The 1st day we can do short dirt/gravel road rides around Atlin, Warm Bay Rd, Surprise Lake Rd, Mcdonald lake. This will use up most of the day and still leave time & daylight to ride back to Whitehorse is desired. Otherwise we sit at Hans’s place or with the airplane guys & swap lies while we rehydrate. Then to bed so we can be up for a guided ride with Hans who tells me will get right to the mountain tops. Good rideable mining roads and we’ll see right into Alaska! Then back to town, reload and back to Whitehorse.
Check out these links, and post here or message me for more info.Remember hotel rooms are in VERY short supply so if a bed is desired it has to be booked NOW

I'm in. The more riding, and the more remote the place, the better. :)

Re: First North American SupaT gathering - Yukon Canada 2012

First off, I want to say this is a Great idea!!!!! Now for the reality of it. Sure I think there may be some people to pop through that are on their way to AK, but many people will talk that they will attend, but it is ALOT of miles and time to even get there.
I say this not as a negative, although it sounds that way, but rather coming from experience of how much time and energy it takes to get all that way up north to the beautiful area. I did it when i was late 20's with no family and a relaxed job. With a steady job, and family even living in Seattle would be hard to shoot up to Yukon and ride.
I would think others can see and understand what I am talking about. Something in the middle of the lower 48 may be the best way to get people from all directions to an event!!!
My hats off to your time spent in organizing something like this!!!

Re: First North American SupaT gathering - Yukon Canada 2012

Great that both of you are willing to take this on. It really is not all that much work - unless you want to make it that way. The key is to keep the "event" dis-organized. Set the dates and then go from there. On the events I have been a part of, we typically check for local accommodations - both motel and camping options and oftentimes, they will offer some sort of price break if you tell them that you are expecting "X" number of folks. Most are not into resort type places, but just good clean, reasonably priced rooms. Have a bunch of "suggested" rides, but let the attendees decide when and where they want to ride. Many will not ride that much at an event as they have ridden a lot of miles to get there and they just want to take it easy, socialize and maybe see some of the local culture. It's nice to have one supper planned where everyone can wrap up the event before their goodbyes. If you have arranged any door prizes from local dealers or such, this is where they can be handed out.

Ask away and I'll try to help in any way I can!!

Jeff, if we get this off the ground I am sure it will be attended by a small hardcore group with the time and money for an epic adventure. Maybe we will have you develope the shirts and hats for the event.

attendance numbers are not the point - the fact that we do it is what makes it real. 8)

Re: First North American SupaT gathering - Yukon Canada 2012

I have to agree with ColoRider as for the way it is put on. The ones I have been to have a very relaxed atmosphere. Most rides are made up in the parking lot the night before with riders splitting off in small groups. Nothing to rigid.

@Jeff, There is nothing saying we can't have two ride ins at different times. Maybe something in the late fall in Co or Ar. Just a thought. This might only take up a week or less. ?

Well I just looked and you would have to come from the PNW.. Might still be a long ride.

Re: First North American SupaT gathering - Yukon Canada 2012

What about a couple regional get-togethers preceeding the Supa WhoopT gathering in the Yukon?

I'd be happy to organize a Mid-Atlantic get together at my house....

Could be as unstructured as "Show up at 9 AM on xx day with a full tank of fuel and be prepared to ride 2-400 miles" to a full fledged Farkle Installation Fest.

OK Troll beat me to it .... I'll just echo his thoughts. So the Troll man and I just spoke on the phone. We're gonna get together shortly but we have already assigned some tasks to each other. We're thinking July 1 - 4 Canada/U.S. sort of thing. Also, this is sort of dead center of our summer. If some of you want to come early and then pick it up on the way back, or some of you want to come up about then and keep on kicking to points north .. works either way. Any comments regarding the timing ??? Skagway (2 hrs) and Haines (5 hrs) both get pretty active about the 4th of July.

Anyway, we're on it. Will keep you posted. Yukondood, if you're interested in getting involved in this, please contact Troll or myself and give up a phone number. That's it. Fins to the bone. R
