We caught the first day of Calgary Stampede and saw lots of stuff that definitely merits a closer look!
I was in Calgary Friday morning (missed the stampede), kept moving. Really liked the tram in the middle of the highway downtown.

Paul, Jim and I made the run up to Deadhorse a day or two behind George. Pretty non-eventful, except for the section between Coldfoot and Deadhorse going up. Had rain most of the way and the road was quite "interesting"!!

Rod sounds like you are having fun... except for the part where the road turned to grease :D Wish I was there.

Rod spent a peaceful night here, free of cold weather and mosquitoes, on my office floor. My wife's sister is here visiting so his more luxurious accommodations were spoken for. He departed about 5:55 am Pacific time. I sent him off with a hot coffee under his belt, and well wishes. He is the last one from the Rally I will see, as far as I know. Jim A. and Limey are still in Alaska. I don't know which way they will be coming back.

Sure was good to meet all you guys and gals. Hope to do it again soon. Any of you passing through Whitehorse (and who doesn't from time to time?), I'll always have a piece of real estate for you to camp on. Just let me know.

Good luck Rod, and have a safe trip. ::008:: ::001:: R.

Left jim just north of Anchorage. I'm camping in Bird river for two nights then heading to Haines to catch the ferry over to Prince of Wales Island.

Hey Limey, you will love Prince of Wales Island. I built a small cabin on the northeast end @ Whale Pass about 28 years ago. Keep a watchful eye out while riding... there are lots of deer and black bear. ::001:: 8)

Anyone know where Torque6988 is? He was going to Alaska after the meet then down into Montana.

That's Coal River. We stopped there for coffee and gas. Really nice people - everyone up there seems to be really nice.

You're welcome at our place on your travels. The ride from Grande Prairie through Jasper to Rocky Mountain House is unbelievable. I'll save some coffee for you. lol.

Made it to Fort Nelson that evening. Had serious rain and construction the last hour or so out. By the time I hit town, it had cleared and I had a quiet night with lots of those little blood-suckers. On the road by 5:30 again this morning (and the blood-suckers were still after me). About 3 hours out of Hinton hit serious rain and it's still coming down. No way was I going to camp, so found a cheap motel.

Thanks again Rem for putting up with me!!

Rod

If anyone didn't hookup with me and missed getting one of the "Super Tenere 2012 Yukon Rally" decals - or if anyone wants an extra for the "other" side of their bike - I still have some left in both the white reflective or black reflective. Price is still $5 and you can paypal or send me the $ in snail mail. I will snail mail the decals back. PM me if interested.

Rod
