    Scammer alert

I had a similar experience with a member on Adventure Rider but by a guy that had hundreds of posts. Had a posting with a price shipped in the lower 48 so I bought the tail rack from him. I didn’t hear anything from him for about a week so I contacted him and he wanted me to come up with more...

    1980 XS1100 Midnight Special

That’s a very original bike you got there! XS1100 FB group might be the easiest. Otherwise Craigslist and Cycle Trader. Just a FYI, to polish up those black chrome pipes, I use to use the ceramic cooktop cleaner on my FJ1100 that I use to have.

How misinformation has slowly help kill the 1200XTZ

I don’t believe weight information has slowed sales, it’s the fact that is pretty much the same bike for the last 13 years. When Suzuki and Kawasaki beat you to TFT displays and BT connections you got to know your behind the times.

The Super Tenere and and Heat

The temp sensor is in the air box. It’s the same one that controls the FI. Pretty much always reads 5 degrees higher or more if sitting in traffic.

I’m sure the green was the ethanol attacking the main jet and the small collar under it. They were both etched and pitted to the point that I couldn’t read the numbers on them.

I’ll run ethanol gas even if it’s going to sit for up to two months but if it’s longer than that I’ll use the same premix that I use in my chainsaws. That way that gas is being refreshed also.

Well I got the carb out today and disassembled. Got to love Ethanol fuel. Got it all apart and put it in the ultrasonic cleaner along with Sea Foam. Got it all cleaned up and I had a 45 pilot and adjustable needle in the spare parts drawer. Runs like Seiko watch now.

For all y'all fans of the DR.

Joined the DR club today. A friend bought it in 12 and parked it in 18’ with 3.2k miles on it. The carb float works but will only run on either. Drained the gas through the carb and the first quart was green and then went to sink brown. Figure I might as well get a jet kit and a slip-on...

When did Harley start costing over $40,000?

When did Harley’s start becoming $40k? About the same time pickup trucks became $90k, average house has become $500k and medical insurance costs $24k a year.

Do you carry tire levers? if so, where?

I didn’t say it was impossible. But I do have to ask how many of those 30 tire you change were tubeless out in nowhere land?

Do you carry tire levers? if so, where?

+1 on what Lund said. Breaking the bead on a tubeless tire by yourself in nowhere land is about impossible. I took a bald Daker+ to the bandsaw to look at the construction and slicing the side wall would be amazing. Just pack a bunch of puncture ropes in your kit and you’re good to go. My wife...

Looks Like a New Owner in the PNW

Seen this cruising up Northbound I-5 this morning in Chehalis. Since no plate on it I’m guess the new owner got it in Oregon.
