    Lower steering bearing removal

Buddies bike he bought at 56k, currently over 70k. I'm sure they were original. Don't know if they were ever serviced, but it did not look like original grease. My bike has over 100k and still original bearings, serviced every 16k mi. Sent from my SM-S918U using Tapatalk

    A Tenere in the garage.

Glad to have you on board. I winter in Gold Canyon. Leaving around the end of the month. I assume, given your age, you are still working for a living? Sent from my SM-S918U using Tapatalk

where did you TAKE your Tenere today?

Hoped to ride the Mogollon Rim Road today. No go as the road was still closed. Went back down to lower elevations and discovered FR 64. Follows the Rim but looks up at the Rim rather than looking down. A controlled burn was going on so it was smoky at times. Back home through Young on 288. Less...

    Lower steering bearing removal

Besides a grease refresh, doing the maintenance rotates the bearing to different places in the race, prolonging wear. If you Don't do the maintenance the bearing sits in the same spot forever. First ride with my buddy today. He could not believe the difference. I told him I could barely ride...

    Lower steering bearing removal

My conclusion for this thread is this. DO PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE! This is not a fun job, but it can be delayed or prevented by regular repacking of the bearings. If you buy a used (or even new) bike, these bearings should be checked and packed as one of your first tasks.

where did you TAKE your Tenere today?

Quite a bit of rain, but the flowers are not the best we have seen. A little spotty. Garry, pretty sure that was getting around slow traffic in a short passing zone.

    Lower steering bearing removal

Good advise from @~TABASCO~ to use an appropriate driver to hit only the outer bearing race to seat the new one back on the stem. This was the closest beafy pipe I could find. Modified the first one with some slits and squeezed in the vice to acheive the right diameter. Filed away some of the...

Able to cut it enough to weaken it and heat it while grinding. Chisle finished the job. Just started loose in this photo. Sent from my SM-S918U using Tapatalk

    Lower steering bearing removal

Buddie's bike with dangeously notchy steering. Bearing races removed easily but struggling with removing the lower bearing. Soaked with WD40 and using a sharp chislel. Floor chisle called out in the service manual. Has anyone successfully removed this with a chisle as called out in the manual? I...

    Rectifier/regulator beeping? Bike is dead

It is too coincidental that this happened after your wiring modifications. What specifically did you modify? Any chance you simply left the key on after your function tests? What trickle charger are you using, and does it beep?

where did you TAKE your Tenere today?

Family coming in town, so no riding for a week. Quick trip mostly up Montana Mountain before they arrived. Good ride but turned around when it started to get challenging. Riding solo and not much traffic. Some water, some flowers, a water fall, and one snake...

What you did to your Tenere today??!!

Not magnetic. 4 straps. Very secure and stable, more so than OEM. It really does fit the tank nicely. One strap has the connectors at each end, which I looped under the seat. Two straps have a loop at one end and connector at the other. It would be more adaptable to mounting with 4 loop straps...

What you did to your Tenere today??!!

I have an unscientific unproven theory that the automatic CCT may be why your chain wear was not bad even after all those miles. It seems to me that those who have experienced higher chain wear generally have manual tensioner. Not necessarily because they are poorly adjusted, but because the...

where did you TAKE your Tenere today?

Another trip out to Apache Lake. Big news if you are familiar with the Apache Trail (AZ Rt 88). They are getting ready to pave the road from Lake Roosevelt to Apache Lake. Good for the businesses at Apache Lake. Mixed feelings as I loved the old dirt trail. However, it will be a rocking paved...
