    Most comfortable ear plugs?

Same here. We went to the motorcycle show (back when they had 'em), and there was a medium sized booth where show attendees were getting goo squeezed into their ears via a syringe. Sit for 10 minutes, they pull out the semi-hardened plug. Come back in one hour. They use a dremmel sander to...

For all y'all fans of the DR.

Yep, that's the AX41. Running it on the 890. Great mud tire. Doesn't look like it's going to have a long life. Not exactly sure how much I have on it right now, but clearly won't last the 5K my OEM E-07 did.

    FJR 1300

Cool...I appreciate it when a fellow rider's acquisition habits make me feel a little more normal. Congrats on the bike(s).

    FJR 1300

Congrats!! Looks like you have plenty of room for more bikes. Wait a month or two before getting another one. Otherwise you might look out of control.

Sierra1 is correct. You do have fantastic riding in your area...says the guy from Lake Frederick. :) Welcome.

Volvo may be 4th in owner reporting of something, but I doubt it's reliability. DM and I picked the Volvo SUV as our favorite contender to replace the Audi. It was a clear winner for us, until we started reading the owner reviews. Even knowing how the internet magnifies mole hills into...

    FJR 1300

My '05 had the same heat issue already mentioned. My God that was a hot, sweaty bike. Later generation models took care of that problem. I only had the FJR for about a month. No doubt it was superior at getting through the twisties much more effortlessly than the S10. That's ultimately what...

Honda Gold Wing - the return of shaft drive

I'll say small throttle twists are noticeably more responsive on the Gold Wing than my SAS in Sport. I rode all my Super Teneres in Sport, and always ride my KTMs in Sport. Of all those bikes, the Gold Wing requires the least amount of throttle movement to get a big response. Some people...

I'm not in the market for anything soon, but I really liked the looks of the new 1300. But knowing they expect the owners to replace the shaft every 48K is a massive turn off. The things are expensive enough to maintain, but you have to draw a line somewhere.

Honda Gold Wing - the return of shaft drive

Okay Donk, I put more negative info into Part 2. Maybe that will help you reisist getting a Gold Wing. Good luck.

Wow, owners of 2024 GS 1300 bikes are expected to pay for a new driveshaft every 48k miles. That adds to the expense of GS ownership...ouch.

Honda Gold Wing - the return of shaft drive

I'm hopeful that I'll feel that way. For me, motorcycle time has always been jealously guarded as something special. It is my stress reliever. Commuting around the DC region is, at the very best, something I've learned to ignore. Hating the commute would only cause you to go insane. So...

Honda Gold Wing - the return of shaft drive

I've never had that perspective. I've always said, if I'm on a bike, I'm recreating, I'm in my happy place. A bike was totally reserved for relaxation. The idea of commuting is a whole different attitude about riding for me. It's yet to be seen if I can actually do it. I've commuted between...

Honda Gold Wing - the return of shaft drive

Not a lot of clutch reaching due to years of speed shifting. But my left foot kept searching for something to stomp. After more than 800 miles of only DCT, getting on my SAS after a 30 day break, resulted in me nearly stalling at the first stop sign. That's when I needed to reach for a...

Honda Gold Wing - the return of shaft drive

I was thinking about your words as I rode to work this morning. I stayed in Tour the whole ride. I hit the throttle much harder than before, and supplemented with paddle downshifts as needed. Dramatic improvement. The suspension is much better on the interstate in Tour, and those manual...

Honda Gold Wing - the return of shaft drive

Thanks, that's good information. Definitely finding there is a learning curve with the DCT. It does appear the answer lies between automatic, sport and paddle shifting. Still only have about 1K miles on it, so more discovery still to come.

    New Android Auto screen

That's really jumping a Super Tenere ahead about a decade. If it's anything like the Gold Wing, you have to fire up the screen, then before the screen is fully booted, turn on the headset for it all to work. If I do it in any other order, it never works. Good luck.

Honda Gold Wing - the return of shaft drive

Turn-about is fair-play. Yes, you definitely reinforced my confidence to get the 890. It was a good call, and there's no doubt your words were ringing in my ears as I bought it. If you're cursing me for that first video...I'm working on part 2 and you're going to hate it. I don't know the...
