    The anything thread.

Apparently the 6 they are still looking for were all workers on the bridge doing pot hole repairs, not people in cars. 0130 hours, so thankfully not rush hour. Makes you wonder if they lost power, drifted, then went full back to try and get it back in the channel. There is a lot of momentum...

That usually happens when a ship is navigating by GPS and the bridge piers aren't exactly where the GPS coordinates show them. Often in fog or limited sight conditions. Someone was asleep at the wheel.

    Clutch lever and mirrors.

www.luckybike.com is a good source for mirror extensions. I've used these on multiple Yamaha bikes now. Some bikes can use the other type of extension like THIS too.

    ABS Bypassing

There is also a possibility of warped front rotors or bad wheel bearings. If the wheel moves around a lot or the rotors are warped it forces the brake pads back out more than normal, so when you squeeze the brake lever the next time it will go all the way to the bars. No air in the system...

Lowering the fork legs in the triple clamp; how deep can I go?

@kjetil4455 - How new are your tires? "falling into the turn" is as much about tire shape as bike geometry. A more peaky tire profile gives that feeling and often goes away as the tire wears. Typically it's the front tire that makes the most difference on this issue. I've noted this on...

    Most comfortable ear plugs?

Don't leave them sitting in the sun on in hot areas of the bike. Keep them in out outer pocket, not one close to the skin. After a few wearings, this gets worse, so change to a fresh pair. I personally find the more industrial versions are less prone to this issue. My personal favorite is...

    Most comfortable ear plugs?

There is wind noise and conductive noise. Conductive noise is when you hear what's hitting the helmet's shell loudly. If you tap on the shell and it sounds very loud, you may be suffering from a conductive noise issue. Usually this is from the interior of the helmet contacting your hearing...

    accessory bar

@stuartro - Do you already have the TT adventure windshield? They sell them for both Gens. If you go to your link, you will notice that you have to select the year of your bike to order. That tells them which one to send you. Anything that fits a 2013 will fit as far back as 2010. 2014 is...

    Oil Change Complication

I don't know what the assembly line guys use, but even my '12 filter was super tight. I was able to remove it w/o damage, but remember using a breaker bar on the filter wrench!

    accessory bar

The Gen I screen needed new holes drilled in it to mate to the Gen II Madstad bracket. Madstad sells adjusters for both Gen I and II. If you have a Gen I bike, and that Touratech Adventure screen is for a Gen I, it will bolt right up to a Gen I Madstad mount. My issue was the used Gen II bike...

    Oil Change Complication

Yamaha supersedes parts when it's an update. Order the part for your year bike. It's a basic part, but might have some minor shoulder difference or depth of threads, chamfer, etc.. The newer part might fit fine, or might not. If you order the older and receive the newer, it was a superseded...

    Shinko 705: A cautionary tale

I have one, as do lots of riders. But sometimes you need that $15 for gas and tires. ;)

    Shinko 705: A cautionary tale

3/4" is essentially 19mm, so coupler nuts with 3/4" wrench flats work as a compact and cheap tool kit tool. I also used to make up my own allen bit socket with cut down pieces of 19mm allen wrench and a low cost socket, then drill and pin the allen bit. I still have a handful of 19mm allen...

    Oil change interval

The US owner's manual suggests 4000 mile intervals.... but the EU owner's manual suggests 10,000 km oil change intervals, (6200 miles). It's about a nice even number. ;) I split the difference and change mine at 5000 mile intervals. I'm a filter every time guy. But I used to ride 25-40k...

    Shinko 705: A cautionary tale

For future reference, I've run several non standard sizes on the S10, (and other bikes), w/o issues. A little taller and skinnier isn't an issue. Not sure if a 170 would clear the brake tension arm. Lots have run 140s. Its a big challenge to do this over the phone though, (trying to figure...

    Shinko 705: A cautionary tale

That sucks, BTDT on a trip for mechanical reasons. Hard to believe you couldn't find a tire on a Friday in Amarillo! Do you carry the tools to remove your wheels?

    Worried [about compression reading]

Gen I Super Tens are known to sometimes build up carbon on the valves and seat too. @thughes317 had the answer, but it won't hurt to run some Yamaha Ring Free thru the bike for a few fuel tanks either. I used that on my '12 after the tech mentioned I had some build up when I got the 52k valve...

    Connector identification help.

The '14 bikes were the first with CC and heated grip functions via the dash/ECU instead of a separate control unit. My understanding has always been that was the start of Gen II bikes. I had a '12 and a '15, but don't have one in the garage now.
