Not needing adjustment ('til some pretty high mileages) is normal- My S10 was still within spec at 26K and 52K and my BMW F800S with similar valve gear was within spec at 24K, 48K, and 72K. Long Haul Paul didn't get his checked until after 100K!

Fan turns on at 105 degrees C and off at 100 degrees C. I use my S10 for parades a lot and have had a few times when the fan ran continuous and temp wouldn't go below 100 C, had to spray down the radiator with water to keep the temps from rising higher, IIRC the bike shuts down at 110 C.

I think I saw mentioned on one of the forums that the KTM needs a top end rebuild/replacement every 100 hours. That's probably assuming racing use with a lot of full throttle, in Iron Butt application that engine is having an easier life and should last longer.
