Former ‘Usual Suspect’ & the Tail of the Dragon

I think the roads I saw in the Smokies where better to ride than the Rockies. Much more twisty. Don't get me wrong, they are both good riding.....

Former ‘Usual Suspect’ & the Tail of the Dragon

I moved from Colorado to North Carolina 3 years ago, I’ve been intending the do the Tail of the Dragon and other rides in the Smoky Mountains. I finally did it! I've been too busy with my house/yard. I'm caught up now so I can get out on the S10. Not sure if any of the other ‘Usual...

Tail of the Dragon from Raleigh / Durham area?

Hello, Does anyone have a good route to get me from the Durham NC area to the Tail of the Dragon. Clearly I can ride the interstates but would prefer the scenic route. I plan to do a Thursday - Sunday trip in early May. I'll hit the Dragon for a day then explore some of the other rides in...

    Uwharrie NF?

Thanks for the info! It looks like Linville Gorge is a weekend trip for me. I have a skid plate and tires for trails. I don't like to venture too far off the beaten track solo. I can pick up a dumped S10 without issue (done it more than I care to admit) but getting too far out there solo is...

    Uwharrie NF?

Being new to North Carolina I'm not sure what the weather is like in late Jan / early Feb. Is anyone up to meeting up near Uwharrie National Forest and check out some of the trails? My riding in Colorado was typically riding pavement from the Denver area to the 4WD trails an hour or more west...

    New to North Carolina

I've been off the forum for awhile..... I need to get a new set of tires before I do any trail riding, what I have now is more than adequate for street riding. Trying to learn about speed ratings on tires. I guess the higher speed rating means the tire can handle more heat?.. If so I 'think'...

    New to North Carolina

I'm getting caught up with the house and yard, I am thinking of taking a ride out to Uwharrie NF sometime in August. I can't believe summer is slipping away so fast! I have few things coming up the next few weekends so I'll have to push to August. Do you know of any trail maps for Uwharrie...

    New to North Carolina

I'm in the Durham area. Still getting the lay of the land and settling into the new house. I was finally able to get out for a short ride Saturday. I've just about had it with boxes and setting up the house. My garage is a disaster......

    New to North Carolina

I appreciate the info! I hope to get some detailed trail maps of the western mountain areas similar to what I had for Colorado. I got most of them at REI and other sporting goods stores. I will for sure get out to the Dragon, if not this year then surely the next.

    New to North Carolina

I'm looking for anyone that rides in North Carolina or southern Virginia. I've just relocated from the Denver, CO area and did a good deal of riding in Colorado, getting off the pavement as much as I could including doing the COBDR. I'm in Durham, NC now. The mountains in western NC look like...

YES Warrenty - Some Kudos for Coyote Motorsports

I picked up a used 2012 S10 back in 2013, the original owner purchased YES for 5 years. Lucky me. Anyway, a riding buddy pointed out I have the old time chain tensioner rattle last fall. Thankfully he reminded me to get it looked at. My local dealer, Coyote Motorsports Denver took care of me...

    Shinko 705 run down

Re: Replacing it tomorrow They would be fine if I stuck to pavement. On gravel roads and light trails they were getting a bit to squirrelly for me.

    Shinko 705 run down

Replacing it tomorrow Here you go guys, a pick of the tire with 6,000 miles on it. I run the rear tire at about 40 or 41 psi. I'm about 250 # I'm getting another one put on tomorrow. I'm leaving my original Shinko 705 Front Tire on. This will be the 3rd rear for this front tire.

    Shinko 705 run down

My experience is about the same vis a vis the pressure. I also just leave them at that high pressure when I run them on trails as well.

Heading West.... Who can show this flat lander how/ where to ride?

When you get to Colorado (Denver area) and it's a weekend hit up the 'Usual Suspects' in the West/Colorado sub forum. We usually get out on weekends for some good stuff.

    Off Route Adventures Course Review

I see you're from Ohio but if you plan to be in Colorado hit Terry up via the contact info on his web site. He's a super nice guy and LOVES to ride. Also let him know you found the review here. Ask him if he remembers Mark on the blue Super Tenere from last year.

Colorado Front Range Meet & Greet

Baring anything crazy happening I should be able to make it. Even if my back isn't great I should be able to handle a pavement ride to get some eats..... ::003::

Newest Colorado Tenere rider on board.

Welcome. Given the late season snow the usual group of us that ride west of Denver have yet to get out. Well at least off the pavement and gravel county roads. We were able to get to the Goose Creek area by this time last year. I'm on the south side of Brighton.
