Oh I would definitely be getting another Super Tenere. But maybe I should use this as an excuse to get a new one with cruise control and ES like I’ve wanted. I just don’t want to risk piecing my bike back together and have reliability issues after that.

I’ve got a reflashed ECU that I would rather not get rid of. But I also wonder if that will cause issues with a different engine.

Apparently not. It seemed like it was but my mechanic triple checked it with Yamaha on the phone and everything was okay. We didn’t dig farther into it yet.

Is it going to cause a big problem if I can’t get the ECU?

I had a total engine failure in my 2012 with 60k miles one it. I’m in the position that I either need a new bike or need to find an engine. I’ve come across a low mileage engine out of a 2014. Is there any reason I wouldn’t be able to put a 2014 engine in my 2012?

Pretty much always had noise on start up. Kind of like a slapping noise that would go away after a couple seconds. Never increased though. Always kind of the same. I’m kind of not convinced that it wasn’t the CCT. But I would assume my mechanic knows more than me.

That’s exactly what I thought it was. But apparently the CCT looked fine when they pulled the side off the case off. Which I’m surprised about.

My mechanic called Yamaha a few times and they keep telling him to just dig further into it. But it’s official that the engine is toast, and the next step is to pull the engine and pull the top end. So if I need a new bike or a new engine I don’t want to pay for him to do that to just figure...

Did a 600 mile ride with no issues one day, and then the next day it just wouldn’t start again. My shop pulled off the side of the engine case and found a bunch of metal shavings, and scoped the cylinders and they were all scored up. 60,000 miles. Haven’t actually found out what exactly went wrong.

Looking for a new or used engine for my 2012 Tenere. If anyone has a wrecked bike with a good engine still or know where I can find a motor somewhere it would be greatly appreciated.

Trying to resurrect this thread a bit! Does anyone know how much room there is on each side? I am trying to add some lights that have a 4.75 inch diameter. Would these fit? or would I need to modify them. Thanks!

I have a LAAM custom pilot and passenger seat on mine and did a 4000 mile trip in 8 days. multiple back to back 600-700 mile days. My friend said she could have kept going. Loved it compared to my 2003 VFR800
