Which one to try and buy

I'd been test riding the Gen 2 since 2018 before I finally pulled the trigger this past summer. I would imagine you could find an early Gen 2, non ES model, that could fit into your budget. I'm not bashing Gen 1's, frankly I don't know enough about the differences. I do know they made some...

First oil change, oil light is staying on.

The filter is fine, it was the level sensor sticking. Apparently a fairly well known issue that, when coming from any other motorcycle, will throw you for a loop. The level sensor came unstuck after 10 minutes of riding.

    Hello

Welcome from Canada. I didn't come from an FJR; I came from a Tracer 900, but similar idea. Loving my Tenere.

New Guy Looking at a Super Tenere

I'd been wanting a Super Tenere for several years, and I traded in my Tracer 900 this year to get a brand new 2020 ES. I'm 6'7", aka ~2m. I have some knee issues, and some lower back issues that effect my left leg. I'm working through some minor comfort issues around my knees on this bike, but...

    Dashboard button busted

Not sure what it looks like underneath, but you could probably 3D print a replacement out of TPU. Looks like you need to replace the entire dash face to replace the buttons: https://www.yamahapartshouse.com/oemparts/p/yamaha/2bs-8353e-01-00/-case-meter-upper

where did you TAKE your Tenere today?

Man, I need to invest in some better tires next year. Most of the trails around me are either really rocky, or really sandy. I buried the rear wheel to the axle trying to get up a sandy trail on a fairly steep incline yesterday. I got a good laugh, and then had the fun of turning around 2/3 of...

First oil change, oil light is staying on.

Update: Finally said F it, and went for a ride, within 10 minutes the oil light went off. She runs great. I feel vaguely stupid. Just finished changing the final drive oil after that ride, since it was all warmed up now. That was easier than I expected. Thank you to everyone that responded, I...

First oil change, oil light is staying on.

Thanks for all the feedback guys. Today I pulled the oil filter off just to satisfy myself that oil was indeed flowing through the engine. The filter was full of oil, and I wasted about 350ml to check it. I added about 300ml back into the engine, and I think I am just going to have to take it...

Show us what keyring you have !

I love the old school leather rectangle dealerships used to give out. They all moved to these "figher jet" pull tabs now, and that's just not my thing. At the same time, it seems odd continuing to use my 15 year old leather one from a dealer I haven't purchased a bike from in 10 years. I have a...

First oil change, oil light is staying on.

Thanks for that, actually sort of comforting. I'm fairly confident I'm going to find the filter full of oil when I pull it off tomorrow, but I figure I might as well drop another ~$25 for a Yamaha filter just for my own peace of mind at this point. Interestingly, the Tracer 900 CP3 motor takes...

First oil change, oil light is staying on.

Oh, I know, which is why I outlined the filter I used in the original post. KN-204-1. My concern with it, is that it's the only thing that's changed relatively speaking. I will try sloshing the oil around, see if that makes a difference.

First oil change, oil light is staying on.

Thanks for all the responses so far. The oil level in the sight glass is at the top when I checked it last. I saw a lot of just dump 4 quarts in, which is darn near what I've put in it at this point, 3.7L; 4 quarts is 3.78L if I recall correctly. It definitely has oil, but that dang oil light is...

First oil change, oil light is staying on.

Hey everyone. I just performed the first oil change on my 2020 S10, and upon completion the oil light is on, and staying on. I did: Sit her on the side stand, pull the two drain plugs, and drain the oil after warming the bike up. Pull the lower front cowl, and pull the oil filter. Wait for it...

where did you TAKE your Tenere today?

I've been riding for years; 3 of my 4 bikes have been dual sport or adventure. I started on dirt bikes going back to my childhood. Generally I stick to the pavement, but I like a good fire road as much as the next guy. A good friend of mine picked up a used VStrom 650 a couple of years ago and...

    Twisted Throttle for Canadian riders.

I remember when it was "A Vicious Cycle", before Twistedthrottle bought them out. Shame they killed off the store altogether. I liked the vicious throttle guys, they were great to deal with.
