Oil light coming on for a while..

Thanks all, it comes and goes, so as it's generally cold at the moment I guess it'll happen. It always goes away after a while and it's not pressure related as you say so I'm not bothered now.

Oil light coming on for a while..

Yes indeed, and I followed that to the letter " I come to you from Tupelo Mississipi, write songs that'll sing like a bird, play licks on my guitar like you ain't never heard"

Oil light coming on for a while..

Thanks for all your suggestions people. As I said in my #1 post, it's suddenly stopped happening, however for your info: when testing in the sight glass, it's bang in the middle, I always refill using the tried and tested "measure the exact amount of oil after fully draining" then put that...

Oil light coming on for a while..

I recently have done an oil change and used a K&N filter, I don't think that is the problem, but the following happens: After starting the bike and running a few hundred yards, the oil light comes on and stays on for a few miles, eventually extinguishing. This has never happened before, and at...

    Givi Skid Plate?

@Mallardmission nice positioning of pegs. What are they, make, model? Thanks. I've been trying to get some to go onto my Givi crash bars, but actually those look like they may be in a better place. If I don't find something similar, I'll have to create a post about pegs on Givi crash bars. My...

    Givi Skid Plate?

In the pic above you can see the proximity of the OEM filter to the Givi bash plate, I don't think that issue is only with the Givi plate, probably other makes too, but I've been really happy with it. However, you can see K&N filter there (I have been riding a long time and K&N have always been...

    Oil filter, too small?

Back in the day here in UK, K&N were the pinnacle of filters, air and oil, and there will always be reports of this that and the other, so I'll use the filter once I've made a small hole to accommodate the nut. Although a great resource this forum, and fountain of knowledge from you all...

    Oil filter, too small?

Awesome Bimota. Part number AND the length. After doing some searching on t'internet it looks like the OEM is a "shorter" type filter as opposed the car-type that my Harley uses, but now I'm going to measure theones I've got. Although I won't cut a hole in the bash plate to accommodate a long...

    Oil filter, too small?

Thanks Cycledude, what is the stock length of the OEM filter then? I haven't yet got to the bottom of this Givi bashplate/filter conundrum.

    Oil filter, too small?

Sorry to labour this point, but exactly how long is the OEM filter? I had bought a K&N 204 filter that has a hex on the top to aid removal with socket set, and that one wouldn't allow the Givi bash plate to fit. Here's a pic I managed to get through the bash plate holes, plus one of the two 204...

    Oil filter, too small?

I should add to post #13, that the 4200 miles I did were across France, all the way around Spain and back again. All with recovery/repatriation insurance and of course, not a great distance from UK. So for that the Sportster WAS suitable, though some would disagree.

    Oil filter, too small?

Thanks Sierra, all I remember is that when I tried (a) filter the bash plate didn't go on, it kept pivoting on the filter. Now it's perfectly possible that I wasn't using an OEM filter and that's where the problem lay. Appreciate the note-I'll look into it.

    Oil filter, too small?

Maybe because I'm used to travelling long distances on single cylinder bikes in my youth, I'm not bothered by that. I have to say, with my ZE it feels like travelling with a 2 wheeled car-too much comfort and too much tech. It seems to have taken a little of the adventure spirit out of...

    Oil filter, too small?

It wasn't bad at all, sure it was a little cramped and the peanut tank meant filling up every 80 miles, but apart from that, we had a blast.

    Oil filter, too small?

Thanks all, maybe I was thinking that it being shorter meant that it didn't filter as well. One of the reasons I didn't want to take filters but to get one on route, is I just completed a 4200 mile journey on my Harley Sportster with my son on pillion plus full camping gear. We were TIGHT for...

    Oil filter, too small?

I have fitted a Givi bash plate to my 2018 ZE. Because of the proximity of the oil filter to the front part of the bash plate, I somehow ended up with a couple of these filters, as they seem to have been recommended hereabouts. There's one on the bike and this in the photo is the second. My...

    S10 won't start

well, my garage is so dark, it looked like the main lights were on when the parking lights had come on, and as you all correctly said the mainms only come on when it fires.

    S10 won't start

Thanks guys, I'll check. As I'm not normally in front of the bike when I start it, it's difficult to tell, but certainly looks like the lights are on when I've started it before, could be my mistake though, or alternatively, there's something wrong with my bike alone.
