    Crosswinds

I used to ride a Goldwing. Yes, it is a heavier bike but it is like riding a sheet of plywood in a crosswind. I road the Tenere in western CO last year in 50 -60 MPH crosswinds it wasn't great but a whole lot easier than a GW. I always ride at my comfort level.

Givi 58l outback trekker top case. Any trouble opening side cases?

As you can see in the picture, the right side is more of a challenge than the left. I sold the box and bought a Givi Outback 42L.

    Good street tires?

The only time noise is an issue is on the front tire. It will howl from about 50 - 60 mph on pavement. I wear a full face helmet which blocks 95% of the howl as long as the face shield is down.

    Good street tires?

I am a big fan of the Mission Trailmax tire. My last set was 98% highway miles. They wear like iron and have all the traction I have ever needed in the twisties. 70 mph on a 40 mph curve is not a problem. I got 14K out of the rear (it had a least another 1K miles left but was taking a long trip)...

    Rear radar

One of the reasons I quit riding bicycles is when a cement truck passed me without moving over at all. Scared the crap out of me. Now I would only ride on a bike path even though state law requires drivers to give the full lane to a bicycle.

    Zumo XT mounting Ideas

I was unlucky and mine fell off going down the highway. I had used it for several months and put it inside for the winter. Then put it in the cradle after winter was over and went for a ride. I never found it. Turned out my new unit wouldn't stay secured to the cradle either. Garmin was good...

Givi Trekker Outback Latching Issue Fix?

Looks like a good fix. I agree, the red/green indicator doesn't ever go full green. Enough that I actually used a pair of ROK straps on a long trip just to make sure I didn't lose a box going down the highway. I may try your fix. Thanks !

New Guy Looking at a Super Tenere

I came from a 2018 BMW R1200RT and an FJR. The ST10 is a tractor as far as the 1st 4 gears go. It took some getting used to. I put over 10K miles on this summer in three separate trips. Compared to the BMW, it is just as good of a bike for long hauls. I have had the seated re foamed and shaped...

    Dunlop Mission Trailmax

I have a little over 10K miles on the front and 6.7K miles on the back. The rear tire has a patch in it since 300 miles. I haven't ridden much gravel since putting them on. The front tire is holding up like iron. 45 - 55 MPH it sings pretty good. The rear tire is looking really good too. It is...

    Question about pannier gasket material

I would try an auto shop 1st and then maybe an upholstery shop. Or Amazon has a ton of different kinds. My guess would be silicon or rubber.

So you have a passion for motorcycles, what else?

I only build as a hobby. I have had a few people tell me I need to sell my stuff. I prefer to make things and give them to friends and family. I think the enjoyment would be less if I had deadlines to meet.

It is a recipe box with a card holder on the top.

    What frames are these?

The throttle has a grip puppy on it. My guess is that the other one tore off and he never replaced it.

Black Hills Yamaha Super Tenere Rendezvous July 22nd - 25th, 2021 - Custer Crazy Horse Campground, Custer SD

You have to turn on the notifications on the XT in settings. I actually shut mine off as it was a bit to much to be watching while riding down the highway.

Black Hills Yamaha Super Tenere Rendezvous July 22nd - 25th, 2021 - Custer Crazy Horse Campground, Custer SD

That was probably mine that you saw. I have the XT with a Tourtech mount. The XT is about the easiest GPS I have ever used. It is very bright. I was using Base Camp to plan my trips but the trip planner is super easy to use on the GPS. You can alter your route with just the touch of a finger...

    New LED driving light

I added the LED headlights last winter and have been wanting to add LED driving lights. I went with amber to hopefully make me a little more visible on the road. The driving lights are Amazon specials that only cost me $10.00. They are installed on T-Rex crash bars and should be protected in...
