installing a 12v USB and Voltage meter

This is my version. I wired them all together and then to a Centech fuse panel that I already had installed under the seat. If there's a voltage drop when the 12v or usb outlets are used that's not a problem for me as I know the reason why. I incorporated a waterproof switch to isolate the...

?Replace Mitas E07 Dakar tires with 3500 miles before 4000 mile road trip???

Large dealers usually have plenty of stock but not all brands. Small shops, not so much. Most will charge a fitting fee if you source tires elsewhere. Some will charge a storage fee for holding tires for you if they are something you bought elsewhere. There's no hard and fast rule.

    Inuvik Northwest Territory ?

I also recommend carrying a Spot, Inreach or similar tracking/emergency device. There places on the Dempster where should you come off the road you can be 20 feet down the bank in the Muskeg and might never be seen or found. And preferably carry it attached to you rather than your bike, so you...

    Inuvik Northwest Territory ?

I went on to Inuvik in 2015 after D2D. https://dualsportblog.wordpress.com/2015-dust-to-dawson-inuvik/ Weather and road conditions are key and June July August are usually the best months but bad weather can come at any time. Be prepared and equipped to wait out the weather. I was lucky with...

What you did to your Tenere today??!!

I would call mine water resistant at best. Everything I keep in it is in plastic bags.

And you can get insurance without a MC license? You can't (legally) do that here in Alberta.

Welcome! I lived in the UK and was able to commute year round. Can't do that now, but IMHO 6 months riding the Rockies beats 12 months riding anywhere in the UK. ::004::

    Aux Fuel Tank

Nice fuel set up you have EricV and yes, gas isn't a problem really. Extra fuel is just good insurance and you'd only use it on a leg like Dawson City to Eagle Plains on the Dempster, which is a 250 mile / 400 km stretch. I just use a rotopax. Not as convenient, but cost-effective.

    Don't dismount w engine running!

I will dismount with the engine running when I leave my bike to warm up, otherwise I don't think I ever have. But when I have, I have never done so by standing on the pegs, which makes dropping it in to gear quite easy. I have my left foot on the ground. Long legs help. Good heads up though.
