    Barkbusters Install

Hey Guys, I’m lucky enough to have a 2012 and a 2014. Why does barkbusters show two different figments for these models? What would stop me from using the 2014 kit for my 2012? The 2012 kit appears to be more generic and fits other makes and models also. Thanks for any guidance!

Valve adjustment - more lessons learned

Yeah I'm not so sure about that. I think some of the high mileage guys are seeing little to no adjustment needed at the second check interval even at 80k or more if they center spec. I think things tend to set in at first and then change very little (or slower) over time after that. I found...

Valve adjustment - more lessons learned

In the middle of this job now. Shame you can't get OEM shims in 0.01mm increments like they come from the factory. I have a Hot Cams kit but decided to next day air some 0.025 increment Pro-X shims to get 2 valves closer to center spec. My measurements at 30k miles were as follows EX...

    CCT Updated again?

Old thread. The newest CCT certainly didn't go down in price. It went up pretty dramatically. It also superceded all part numbers for the CCT from the original model to today. Sure doesn't seem like just a different supplier to drive down costs.

    CCT updated? How to tell

Bumping old thread. I have a 2012 that I upgraded the OEM CCT with the 2014 version in 2014 with the following part: Tensioner Assy, Cam Chain Item #2BS-12210-00-00 It is my understanding there was another update to this CCT and the new part number shows up as follows for a 2022 model...

Issue No longer able to edit posts?

No worries on my end. Thanks for helping me out with my editing issue. I know being a mod is a thankless (and low paying) job. And making grownups play nice is even less fun. I haven't been very active posting in several years but I've always used this forum as a great resource since I got...

Issue No longer able to edit posts?

Yeah I guess so. This falls into the debate of who owns the content, the forum or the OP. If forum moderators make such a mess out of this I hope they won't be surprised when people quit "generating content" for their forum. Remember, with no users there is no forum.

Issue No longer able to edit posts?

I did report and so far no response. Are you supposed to "report" the edited text of the new post you want or just what you want removed? This seems like a stupid policy and is very confusing. How can somebody make something as simple as a motorcycle forum so complex? ETA: So if you're the...

Alternatives to Jesse Odyssey II luggage-they aren't what they used to be.

Excellent review thanks for posting that. Glad to see the newer EVO panniers are sealed at the bottom via welding and not a gasket/rivets. I spent quite a bit of time with Jason on the phone at ADVMotorrad and he was super helpful and very detailed on the racks and their crashworthiness. cheers!

Alternatives to Jesse Odyssey II luggage-they aren't what they used to be.

If you don't mind could you share some more details of the mounting racks? Especially the connection at the left and right footpegs. It appears Bumot does not provide any reinforcing plate behind the left exhaust/footpeg side bracket, they instead only provide spacers if your bike doesn't have...

Alternatives to Jesse Odyssey II luggage-they aren't what they used to be.

I've checked out the Bumots and I like the case. The racks look pretty flimsy though compared to what I am used to on Jesse's. I will give the Jesse's credit. I've had some pretty nasty spills and while I have bent racks and had to replace them (one hit even bent the stout yamaha subframe)...

Alternatives to Jesse Odyssey II luggage-they aren't what they used to be.

Hey guys, I have used and abused a set of Jesse Odyssey II's and sadly a substantial crash folded my left bag and I am in need of a new set. Jesse luggage changed hands several times in recent years. I guess the new Challenger design is what they offer now but they don't even drill the new...

    Gen 1 new recall

Anybody tackle this recall work themselves? Seems pretty straightforward and I don't trust my dealer wholeheartedly. When I did the headlight recall I brought the headlight assembly in to them loose.

Final Drive oil seal specifications -anyone?

No worries mate. I was asking whether the BRN (bearing retainer nut) has to be removed to replace the oil seal. The BRN is the round "nut" that houses the seal in question. Obviously the driveshaft coupler and associated hex nut have to come off. I was successful in replacing the oil seal...

Final Drive oil seal specifications -anyone?

When replacing the inner seal housed by the bearing retainer nut did you have to remove the bearing retainer nut (needs a special tool)? It seems to me you could replace the seal alone while leaving the bearing retainer nut in place. I've got the same leak and parts are in hand so going to...

    Cartridge disassembly for revalve

I have read the flats on the compression assembly are in between metric sizes. Did you just use a big adjustable wrench to turn? When going back in with the revalved cartridge assembly use blue or red loctite? I know on the nuts use red. Thanks again for all of the advice. Ordered the...

    Cartridge disassembly for revalve

Thanks for the help and tips. I am sure patience goes a long way on this job. It is shocking how soft the aluminum is on the fork cap alone so it wouldn't take much ham fisting to tear something up. I may take you up on your offer. I was planning on buying the cartridge split blocks if I...

    Cartridge disassembly for revalve

I'm committed to Nicks setup as I have the parts in hand. The Traxxion option looks great but they are only sold as an "in house" option. By the time I ship forks there and pay shop fees it is not a consideration form a savings standpoint. BTW I have AK20's on another bike and they are...
