What is this black box, and this broken wire?

The big connector #58 is for SCM (suspension control module) and the yellow wire goes to rear shock absorber step motor #61.

Cruise control intermittent on 2016 Tenere?

For front brake lever test, slowly pull the level and you should hear a total of two clicks. Slowly release it and expect two clicks again. The first click when pulling is for cruise control and the second is the brake light switch. Most of the time the first switch is stuck, causing the SET...

Cruise control intermittent on 2016 Tenere?

My guess: sticky front or rear brake switches or clutch switch. You can check them by pulling the brake/clutch levers and slowly releasing them. Listen for clicking sounds from the switches while levers are released.

Cruise control intermittent on 2016 Tenere?

Yea that's for CC system indicator. The CC setting indicator (Green SET) will be on when pressing SET only if speed/gear/brake/clutch switches are in allowed ranges/states.

Cruise control intermittent on 2016 Tenere?

When CC button is pressed, CC system indicating light (yellow speedo) will come on solid, regardless of brake and clutch switches. If it flashes quickly instead, that means there are fault codes. You need to go from there. Sorry can't help more than this...

2014 ES - Anthony Reflash Review

I, too got my '16 ECU reflashed by Anthony with T-light/S-enhanced maps. As other members mentioned, s-mode response was more linear/useable. But the fact that engine brake was removed (de-cel injector cut disabled) made me a little bit uncomfortable in turns since I used to rely on engine brake...

Power available on Super Tenere for heated gear?

The dual heat troller has 2 circuits. I used one for jacket and the other one for gloves. You should be able to use one for jacket and the other for pants. Dual heat troller provides independent controls of the 2 outputs.

    favourite pic of your bike:-)

The mountain view looked identical. We might have run into each other somewhere there :) I took forest service road 60 off of 299 to Hyampom and then Hayfork -> Red Bluff the past weekend while being chased by a small thunder storm...priceless.

    New Tracer GT

I brought a left-over brand new 2017 FJ-09 2 weeks ago. The lighter weight makes it easier to move it in garage and the triple-cylinder engine is amazing. Can't tell long distance comfort level yet. I used to ride 480-mile day trip on the S10 without getting beat-up at the end... 2017 FJ 09...

What do we now think of the bike

The stock front seat is tilted slightly forward so it tends to stress the arms when braking. There was a know fix to it by replacing the rear two rubber bumpers of the seat with shorter ones so that the seat is more level.

LED Headlight and Series Regulator Replacement

Not a scientific method, but I measured the temperature of the stator cover after a sustain highway run against my buddy's Africa Twin. Mine was ~150 deg F while his was 170 deg F.

    Suspect Rectifier/Regulator

Most motorcycles use a permanent magnet generator with a shunt regulator. While it's simple, the problem is the regulator shunts excess current to ground and causes the stator coil to work at 100% all the time. Super Tenere has few stator failures while other makes/models suffer frequent...
