Can Anyone Identify This Disconnected Wire connector?

It looks to be connected to a resistor, I suspect someone has fitted LED Indicators to your bike and fitted those resistors to stop them flashing too quickly.. do your indicators flash too quickly? It might be that they later fitted the correct flasher unit and then disconnected the resistor as...

Does our bike have valve seats?

It was meant to say I am 99% sure!! Not 9%

Does our bike have valve seats?

I am 9% sure there are valve seats, Yamaha may not list or show them, but the head material is far too soft for the valves to seat into directly. Suspect you need a proper engineering firm to remove the old seat and fit a new one, or buy another head from a breaker, but check it first to make...

I have also been very happy with the STS indicator system, have had it 4 years and not a single issue. Hope the new buyer is pleased with it..

Oil light coming on for a while..

Remember that it’s an oil level light, not an oil pressure light! So the filter is unlikely to have any effect, and the light coming on doesn't mean the engine is about to seize up! As stated it could be a wiring issue (but odd that it should occur after an oil change), more likely it just needs...

    What tyres for road use

As stated running higher pressures usually improves high speed handling on tarmac, but it also reduces the size of the contact patch which means the tyre wears more quickly!! And offers less grip but will allow the bike to flick from one side to the other more easily!! It’s all a balancing game!!

    What tyres for road use

I fitted Road 6's to my tenere a few weeks ago, but have only ridden a couple of hundred miles so far (too cold & wet), I loved the 5's and thought the 6's would be even better. So far its been terrible weather and too cold to really try the new tyres but mine do not vibrate or pull to any side...

    Upgrade of shock

I think Tabasco means will this be mated to an equally upgraded set of forks! :) There aren’t 2 rear shocks on an ST , so the rear shocks don’t have to be matched to work together .. :)

    Cut off seat tongue

I have never seen a mod requiring that tongue to be cut short, but yours is a lot shorter than mine, someone has definitely modified it.

    Parking light replacement

I have headlight protectors and a large engine protection frame (T-Rex) that comes up to the lights, had to remove parts of both systems to access the headlight, it took time!!

    Parking light replacement

I was in the same boat as you, the LED headlight bulbs looked very white and the parking lights yellow, which I hated. I also swapped the parking lights for LED lights, as stated it's a nuisance and a bit long winded to change the parking bulbs, but it's not difficult. Worth it in the end to...

    2016 ES fork oil change

Thanks guys, I agree that I need to dismantle them and thoroughly clean out the damper units. my ES forks seem to need a 44mm spanner to open the forks, I can’t find anyone selling a 6 point 44mm fork spanner, none of my adjustable spanners go that wide, so what do you guys use to open the...

    2016 ES fork oil change

Hi Peeps, I am sure this has been asked before, but a quick search didn't list anything. My ES is coming up on 20,000 miles, the engine has been regularly serviced, but the fork oil has never been changed so I figured it was time to do it. I have the Yamaha service manual for this bike, but...

    ECU

Maybe you could send it to someone on here and they could swap it out with their ECU and see if their Motorcycle operates. That would prove if your ECU is good or bad. just an idea..

    Installed Helibar Risers

I have the exact same setup on my tenere (for about 5 years) and love the extra comfort that it provides. Like you, i removed one brake caliper, pumped the piston out a bit, removed the brake fluid from the master cylinder reservoir, fitted the extension hose and then forced the caliper piston...

    New member from Texas

hope you like the bike, I bought mine in 2016 after a goldwing (had the wing for 7 years) and loved the Tenere then and still do, fantastic bike for exploring!! I am in Princeton, so not far away!! Hopefully our paths might cross, but have fun and welcome.. Gary

    Trailering a ES Tenere?

I use thé pit bull system, no strapping anything down, just ride in and latch the 2 rear locks and go. It’s not cheap, but is a very solid, simple and reliable system.. a couple of adapters and it works with almost any other Motorcycle...
