What makes the GS cheaper? Longer service intervals? Easier to work on? Less maintenance required overall? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Tenere at local dealer

So strange. I asked the sales guy flat out "How can you expect me to lay down $18K on a bike I've never ridden?" His response was: "We'll let you take it around the block once the deal is written" He told me that Yamaha owns the bikes. A Yamaha rep comes around to check the mileage on the new...

    Tenere at local dealer

Wonder of wonders, there's a S10 at my local dealer. Can't ride it as it's not a demo but I'm going to look at it and swing my leg over it. (Why is it I can go to a Triumph or BMW dealer and ride anything they have but Yamaha has this bizarre 'no demo ride except on demo day' policy?) Sent...

Edit: On the non-ES model: Is the rear shock adjustable for preload, rebound and compression or just preload and rebound? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    What year?

For the first time in the four years I've owned my Tiger I adjusted the rebound damping. I was looking to smooth out the harsh ride so did a bunch of reading on suspension adjustments. I turned the adjuster all the way in (4 clicks) and then for starting purposes 10 clicks out. This morning...

Front and rear Spring Upgrades for heavier riders?

Hey Don, did you end up with a higher rate spring from Norwest? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Front and rear Spring Upgrades for heavier riders?

Yes, I understand that's how the ES works, I'm just getting the impression that stock the bike is under sprung. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Front and rear Spring Upgrades for heavier riders?

Reading this thread with interest. I'm not yet an owner but I'm interested in how the S10 is sprung for solo and two-up. I commute solo and ride two up on weekends. If the bike is sprung for two up won't it be oversprung when I'm solo? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Looks like the rubber pad isn't there on yours. Also: is only the rear half of your final drive painted black? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

What's the story on the need for new clutch basket? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

To ES or not to ES

That's the same as the GSA. Preload changes are done stopped, damping on the fly. Makes sense really, no need to change preload (go from two helmets to one) underway unless you lose your passenger and don't plan on turning around! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

To ES or not to ES

Quite right. Changing preload on the GSA FROM one helmet to two helmets etc. also requires stopping. Damping adjustments (comfort, normal, sport) can be done underway. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

To ES or not to ES

Thanks Don, I appreciate your perspective. If there's easily accessible adjustable compression and rebound damping plus preload that is definitely a plus for a Gen 1 I'm assuming the ES does not adjust the front fork on the fly? What is the reason for a Gen 2 clutch basket? Sent from my...

To ES or not to ES

If I rode solo 100% of the time I'm pretty sure I wouldn't be conflicted about which to get. Part of my challenge is that there are few used Gen 2's that I can find in Canada so will have to import which is a pain. My Tiger is a US spec bike and I'm always annoyed that the speedometer is in...
