Did the install, no problem using the 053 kit on my 2013. I removed the stock bar end weights and used the ones from the kit. I did not need different fastners, but I did need to put spacer blanks in the handlebar ends. I probably could have used stacked washers, but I had some leftover spacers...

I am about to do this same install (just ordered the 053 kit) and will update with the required parts (sizes, spacer, etc) to fit the 2nd Gen Guard on the 1st Gen bars.

If there are still stainless under the black powdercoat(?) it is a magnetic stainless... Mine held a magnet. Looks pretty good on the white 2013, but I don't think they are still stainless.
