Forgive me for I have sinned

Trade it in when the ashtray is full!

Forgive me for I have sinned

So...maybe it's the great group of people here, and not the specific bike, that keeps us around. Would you prefer that those members who have chosen another model/brand be banished?

Forgive me for I have sinned

Beg to differ: I did regular valve (OK...."pushrod") check/adjustment on my 79 ironhead Sporty

Forgive me for I have sinned

Anyhoo, congrats to the PO on the new Ducati! (speaking of valve adjustments, he's luck that engine isn't a desmo.....)

Forgive me for I have sinned

Sure, but the screw/lock nut or shim over bucket isn't too much for the average owner to deal with. The shim under bucket valve train brought a whole other level of PITA....removing cams to adjust valves puts it outside of the skill set of many riders.

    Starter failed to turn

"Brand new" batteries can be bad right out of the box too, just saying.. Any difference if you jump it with a known good battery?

Forgive me for I have sinned

Same reason we put up with the damn valve check nonsense?

    NEW GUY

Welcome! The most common "transmission issue" with this bike is shifting problems that appear to be gearbox issues but are actually due to lack of lubrication on the shift lever pivot. Many a "shifting problem" has been cured by the application of a little grease. (Ask me how I know)

    Inexpensive Lightweight Skidplate

Ukrainian company. I bought some things over the summer from a Romanian company for my orange bike: great experience, very good communication, and excellent product. I'm not bashing the overseas companies, just be aware who/where you're dealing with (there are things to consider, such as...

    Adaptive cruise control

Exactly! With the bike, there is a light on the dash that changes color to indicate that radar has detected a vehicle inside of the safe distance and is actively slowing you down. I wish my truck had same feature.....

    Adaptive cruise control

Only if you're completely brain dead and not paying attention to your surroundings. Not a worry for me, if this is a concern of yours then I would suggest not putting yourself in that situation. As I stated: "YMMV". ;)

    Tusk Lithium battery

Tusk lithium in the WR has been going strong for 7 years, Tusk lithium in the KTM lasted less than a year and just suddenly crapped out without warning (in the middle of a cross country trip).

    Adaptive cruise control

Yeah, that's why I hate it in my truck. Fortunately, Toyota gives me the option of using either std or adaptive (just gotta hold the "on" button down longer for std).

    Adaptive cruise control

Adaptive CC on the bike became a really nice feature when pounding out slab miles that were constantly rubber-banding from 55 mph construction zones to 80 mph open road.....just set CC for 80 and let the robots do the rest. Admittedly, I hate adaptive CC in my truck but love it on the bike...

    The anything thread.

I have a couple of those, as well as 300 watts of portable solar for the camping rig. They work great, if you're in an area with all day sunshine (I use them for desert camping). Not so great if you camp in the forest. What bugs me is the misnomer "solar generator"...these units obviously are...
