    YAMAHA ENGINEERS????

I always laugh at that statement, "The engineers know best" and then the first thing people do is change everything that the bike came out of the factory with. Seats, bars, grips, foot pegs, tires, windscreens, etc. The manufacturers do most of their decision to make money.

    Guy hates his Super Tenere

You must be the anchovy guy. I knew I'd find out who it was eventually!

    Guy hates his Super Tenere

I know this may be surprising, but not everyone likes the same thing. The local pizza place still has anchovies available....somebody must order them. Not me, I always get pineapple.

    Lithium Batteries & Chargers

I'm still confused as to why the lithium batteries require a special charger, yet for some reason the bikes charging system is the same no matter what battery you use.

Valve adjustment - more lessons learned

Job well done. How long do you think it took you, as a first time sort of afraid of doing the job person?

What size for the seal savers boots?

I like the velcro ones so they are easy to remove and clean up the fork. I think I used the Shock Sox version, I looked up the Seal Saver site and theirs are zippered along with velcro. Sorry I don't recall what size, just letting you know about the easy install/removal of this type. Don't...

Dealer says I don't need a valve check?

I did my first check early, just above 20k miles and had to adjust two valves. The next one I did right around 50k and had to adjust a few that time as well. The bike ran fine both times, so I wouldn't use the way it runs as an indicator of whether it should be done or not. These bikes...

Monster KTM 1190 dirt bike with 46" Mickey Thompson tires

Even a small YouTube channel can make a bit of money. My meager channel brings in enough to pay for tires, oil changes, small accessories and a few fun trips per year. I could also make as much picking up recyclables daily I suppose. :D I don't know how it scales up, but with the number of...

    Valve shim adjustment?

Oh snap! Yeah, I've done similar stuff, dropped a washer down the cam chain tunnel on a bike once. Had to do a lot of digging with the magnet and it kept getting stuck on the cam chain but eventually got it. Now I have one of those small fiber optic camera things, they are pretty cheap and...

    Breaking bead

Might need some practice? I have changed tires and broke the bead using just regular tire irons on the road once. The MP ones are way easier!

Rear brake weirdness, no rear ABS, and ABS light on- 2013 w/70K miles.

I'm pretty sure she has a Gen 1 bike, I met her in Minnesota a couple years ago.....a white bike with a side car. Anyway, if that doesn't get it done it's either replace the ABS system or eliminate it. With the expense of the parts, I'd likely just bypass it and keep riding.

Rear brake weirdness, no rear ABS, and ABS light on- 2013 w/70K miles.

Did you do a fluid flush or just a bleed? Flush the entire system, activate the pump several times and ride the bike. Maybe flush it again after that. Brake fluid is cheap, the ABS system isn't.

    Shinko 705: A cautionary tale

This is a good reason to be involved in other online forums. I was able to get a tube in a small town in Canada when my buddy didn't have a spare by reaching out on ADVRider forum. They also have a huge section where people have "Tent space" which is a spot for traveling motorcycle riders to...

    Shinko 705: A cautionary tale

No dealer/shop in town has a 17" rear tire that would fit? Sorry that you had the troubles, sometimes it goes that way.

Stay away from this Air filter

I used three of those with no issues, but I suppose that's just my experience. No doubt you got a bad one, but plenty of people have used them without problems. OEM is the way to go if you want to be sure it fits, I guess!

Valve adjustment - more lessons learned

That's my video. If all the marks line up and you don't move the crank you should be good, but like I say in the video it's sort of a shortcut and sometimes shortcuts can cause issues. The manual has all the steps you need to get cam timing perfect, I highly suggest checking the steps in...

Weapons - What you have (NOT a political discussion)

I bought it used off a local gun forum, it was listed a long time with no interest because it didn't have the required local ten round magazines, so had to be sold "without mags." I can't recall what we paid for it, but it was a good deal. The seller disassembled the magazines and handed them...

Weapons - What you have (NOT a political discussion)

I forget what a good pistol this is. Rarely gets taken out, my wife got a Ruger SR9C after this and then fell in love with a Springfield EMP so it got shuffled to the back. Not a big market for these Spanish guns, but it has always been reliable.

Never seen one of these before HONDA CTX1300

I know that these bikes exist but rarely see them. Sort of like the Super Tenere.

Weapons - What you have (NOT a political discussion)

Thanks for reminding me again about the Star Firestar Plus that I have in the back of my gun safe! It's a good shooter, I bought it cheap for my wife because she wanted to try out a 9mm after shooting the snub nose 38 I got her. She eventually got a few other 9mm's and the Star just got abandoned.
